<3 Garlic happy.gif

hahaha cheers,
never going to live that down... actually not going to try!
biggrin.gif

spinning lets you know your limit. and your tires limit biggrin.gif

(in the wet, it is just fun)

spinning off turn 2 just puts a big flat spot on your $240 semi slick sad.gif

oh well, it can ride on the rear from now on smile.gif

you shouldnt need them on the hardest setting. have you upgraded your rear swaybar?

Camber arms, sway bars and coil overs ...

But looking at the photo's I'm sure it was because I hadn't set the coilovers right and the car still has a full interior ...

But I'll be selling it soon to get something which I won't have to worry to much about the interior smile.gif

Consider yourself lucky you have the semi slick ...

I can't even buy a normal tyre for that much on my Barge laugh.gif

jezza323
Post #354

if your sway bar is adjustable, stiffen it up more and put your shocks at a moderate setting. that should help out a bit.

Will do champ thumbsup.gif

Wasn't to sure if you two (the other Corolla) were part of the forums ...

And body roll just shows who are the manly drivers which think strut bracing and stiffer suspension are for sissies tongue.gif

The other Corolla is a member. And now I am (obviously tongue.gif), does anyone know who takes the pics out at the test n tune nights? I went a few months back and saw pics from other cars that night and wouldn't mind knowing if any pics were taken of my car.

Also, I have strut bracing. Suspension is too expensive for me at the moment dry.gif

I've been reading up a bit lately that people are removing their rear sway bars to gain a bit more 'give' in the rear which i can only assume would give more traction.

in saying this i recently put a rather large 27mm rear sway bar in the back of my S13. it came from a Laurel which is a much bigger vehicle. Since doing this the car just spits the ass end out predictably but still spits it out nice and easy........

Many people heading out Saturday? I wanted to but didn't get my engine back in quick enough!!

your sway bar is there to minimise body roll. how you tune these things all comes down to personal preference really. the way i set mine up was to stiffen the rear sway bar and to soften up the rear shocks. so when i accelerate out of a corner i get a lot of squat in the rear giving more traction, and much less body roll. again though, everyone will have a different way of going about things. find what works best for you.

my car has off the shelf "low" springs, KYB Excel-G shocks and big swaybars front and rear. those who have seen it on the track will be able to confirm that there is almost no body roll. it has a very pliable ride on the crappy brisbane roads (IMO) but handles very well.

if you have a look in the suspension forum on performanceforums you will see a very large thread about stiff sway/soft shock vs soft sway/stiff shock combos, gives some good info and comments, worth a read

I agree, its up to experimentation and personal preference to determine what works best, also what works well on one car may not work at all on another car.

also, you dont need to be at a race track to see how your setup is. just take it through your local twisties (at the speed limit of course) and see how it reacts to the changes you make. stop, make another adjustment and keep going. one thing you must remember though, is to ONLY EVER ADJUST ONE SETTING AT A TIME! if you make numerous changes at once you could upset you current setup, and not know which part is causing the problem. follow this and you should be fine. experimentation is the key

neil se, last time I did that the organiser refused entry and told me that they are too busy to run another orientation...even though I've been there more than a few times. Unless you want to try ur luck, it's best to call up and get them to reserve your credit for nxt time.

I went ok, low 64's as usual. Tyres have had it.

Was stuck in traffic first session, and my tyre pressures were all over the joint! 2nd session was great until I started choking because my fuel was getting low and it wasn't picking up from the tank on right hand turns, so couldnt get the power out of corners.

Last session was pretty good, caught in traffic behind the Junior Zagato though he was just as fast as me in the corners.

Thanks for the piccies GTRVspec95
