its been a long time coming but i think that my car is almost ready for the track.

i have been building up my "MX-7" for the past two months straight now and i think she will be good to go in may. for those of you that dont know my car, here is a link to its build. my new gearbox goes in next weekend and then the roll bars after that with a tune. some new wheels and R spec tyres and she's set for the blacktop biggrin.gif i've been delayed by about a month becuase i've been screwed around by a few people.

but, its almost time. i'm so excited i cant wait!!! keep an eye out for me, i'll be a regular soon enough IPB Image i will need some one to show me round QR though, never raced there before sad.gif all new to me.

Besides the dipper and the final turn (turn 6) there is not much to worry about at QR smile.gif

IPB Image

Generally it's going into the dipper to hot ... or stamping the throttle of turn 6 to early that gets people into trouble ...

There is plenty of kitty litter on turn one if you get that a little bit wrong

There are plenty of us Boosters roaming around if you need to chat thou smile.gif

jezza323
Post #218

and the biggest places to get better times are turns 1 and 2

you really need to go as fast as possible through those 2 turns to get good times, i found it just took me time to build up the balls to get through at high speeds. i slowly built on my entry speed over a couple of sprints days till i found the max smile.gif

The entry to the crossover can be a bit hairy if there is a nice patch of s2000 gearbox oil on track... wink.gif

turbo with an extend port.

thanks GTRVspec95, i was more referring to the actual registration, pits and all that side of stuff. that stuff eludes me. but your info will still be very helpful indeed. i will make a copy happy.gif

the corners arent really a worry, i'll play them as i see them. i do hill climbs so "high speed hairy corners" are no worry for me biggrin.gif i have balls for that laugh.gif you dont have a cliff on one side at QR, so thats one less worry tongue.gif

entry you just fax through a form by thursday 5pm to get pre-entry discount

then you show up before 12pm on the saturday

i usually get there around about 10:30 to make sure i get a pit, nothing worse than having to hang around in the hot sun

then 12pm is briefing, and groups are posted, find out your group, once briefing is finished wait for your group to be called, line up, GO when the fella waves you off! too easy

EDU57
Post #224

sounds simple enough. looking forward to it happy.gif i'll have to start saving for some new tyres then me thinks.

You can rock up and sign on the day as well EDU57 but Saturday Sprints gets packed out more often then not.

Bring along some tools perhaps and a full jerry can of your favourite jungle juice and off you go smile.gif

jezza323
Post #228

yeah i bring my semi slicks in the back of the car, swap over when i get there, helps to waste time before briefing. i also bring a pile of tools, its always the one u dont have that u want...

i think the last 4 or 5 saturdays have been booked out by 9am on the saturday, and ppl have only gotten spots late due to others not showing up

you can just call me michael, or mike, whatever. its an old account this one, too lazy to change it. so it seems like pre-booking is the way to go then? its like $100 for the day isnt it?

i have a mate with a ute who carries my tools, tyres, fuel etc. for me biggrin.gif do thats no issue. but how much fuel would the average person go through in the day?

^^It's like 5 sessions of 5 laps or something. The course is just under 2km long. So depends how much your car chews in around 50km tongue.gif

jezza323
Post #231

sometimes get 4 sessions

i only go through 1/4 tank ish (including the 40 mins to QR and 40 mins home again) but im sure you will use more smile.gif

Sprint course = 1.89km x 5 ...

multipled by right foot ...

divided by time spent lawn mowing the inner field ...

subtract overtaking slow pokes ...

and then you have the anwser to fuel consumption tongue.gif

Was an enjoyable day out there today - I ran a best of 1:11.41 which I'm quite pleased with for a first time out with the only real mods being Koni Yellows on all fours.

Enjoyable of course apart from managing to get caught in the large oil spill in the second session. Didn't see it and had no idea what was going on until I pulled back in pit lane. Thankfully avoided the tyre wall ohnoes.gif

On a side note - what happened to the Hi Power CRX? Saw it parked on the side of the Cunningham on my way home around 6pm - result of the offroading in the third session? dunno.gif

The motor may have done a bearing

However the car has performed passed Ivan's expectations and cut a second off it's PB

The CRX is now well into the 57's (57.46) with still more work to come smile.gif

PS . I felt touched that ZENNON came and visited me on turn 6 happy.gif

Do we know what the sprint course record is? I know a couple of turbo cars have gone quicker, but not too many n/a's would have... maybe the gt40? dunno.gif

edit: is it just me or is the post above's time after this ones? 7:43 > 7:33 right??? (prolly too much sun biggrin.gif)
