Perhaps you could approach an already existing performance workshop with a decent reputation, and move into a large location.

Basicly 2 businesses opertaing from the one premises. As mentioned before, without another service to attract people during the week things would be slow. But perhaps with a workshop attached the people waiting for their cars to be finished could spend some time AND $$$ with you.

Just an idea smile.gif

If you need stuff transported mate gimme a bell. I work for quite a large transport company and im sure theyd be willing to help in some way specially if i chat to them lol. Also if you were perchance to set up a section in your shop that dealt with magazines then i would definitley be the person to see there. We deliver and package magazines to all the newsagents in QLD/Northern NSW and deal with all your import hard to get titles like max power, racer, redline, import tuner, as well as the usual hot 4s, fast 4s, high performance imports, zoom etc etc Also what you guys would consider "bogan" magazines.

I'd be happy to be a walking/driving advertisement for your business when it gets up and running.

Such as sticker(s) on car, wearing t-shirt around etc.

You just want a free t-shirt tongue.gif

Nah sounds like a good fesible idea, but also its about the 500 bazillionth idea like it. Good Luck with it tho. Out of 4000 odd members on here i'm sure some (including me) would help ya clean a place up to get ya going and stuff. A good reputable, RESPONSIBLE establishment that deals in this kinda stuff would go off. And the lounge and big screen. You could just hang there and spend some dollars while ya cars gettin fixed like already mentioned.

Gewd Luck dude

P.S. Maybe a little incentive would be good to get some free help ie. Just something simple like handprints on the walls of everyne who helped. Tacky I know, but seeing your hand print and name splashed up on a wall would intice some. Just a suggestion

Mate I think you should look at BRAG first before you do anything. This performance shop on the coast tried to make itself into a big car hang out but has failed. Look at there mistakes and hopefully you can find an advantage over them. thumbsup.gif

Mate this sounds like an awesome idea, good to see that someone is switched on and has the business savvy mind to go through with something this big.

I would be more than willing to donate my weekends to come down and help you guys clear stuff out, and have some alchoholic beverages afterwards.

I could look after the communication side of things as well, as I work for Telstra, so the phone lines, phone system, mobiles etc could be catered for. Also I have plenty of contacts that would be willing to help you out as well.

Keep us posted as to how this goes, although I live up at Redcliffe I would certainly make the trek down there and buy stuff from there biggrin.gif

sounds like every1 has some great ides, but has any1 thought how you could get something like this approved by the council? i dont know much about this type of thing, but with all the trouble the council is goin to just to stop ppl cruising around the streets, do u think they would approve an area that encourages ppl to cruise and hang out?
im all for the idea, i think its great, but if some1 is serious about doing it, u need to be smart about it.
any site that is even remotely close to residential areas, would mean no chance. as every1 has said, on the M1 would be ideal (with a drag strip out back), but the council will argue that it will encourage racing on the M1

just my thoughts

Mate nobody said anythign about a drag strip out the back..... He is trying to realistically look at the situatuion and provide a MEETING area for the lot of us, not a drag/drift/skid venue. Thats why the place near the M1 was bought up, it isnt too close to residential areas and the noise factor of the M1 will help mask any potential noise pollution problems. Being in a industrial zoned area helps as well. Obviously if a suburban location was chosen close to residential areas then this might pose a problem re noise pollution. And yes of course the council is going to want to approve an area away from resisdents to cruise and meet as there is a lot more ratepayers than modified car drivers....... Would help clean up problems like the BWCP and the esplanade. Im not saying that it would stop people from going there (specially the espy on sundays) but it would help alleviate the problem.

Its going to be a retail store and cafe.
Not a drag strip or a drift pad.
The aim is to get the cruzers there of course, but the business isnt anything the council would have a problem with.
You think REPCO or Autobarn have to get special council approval?

And I want the cops on side and the council. So theres going to be signs with something like "Any hooning behaviour will be reported to the police, along with your rego number." or something a little more eloquent.

ps to all: I am registering a business name next week so with some luck this will be a go-er.

Seriously CyberTech it isn't that easy, I have been looking for about 2mths now and if the rent isn't like a $1000 per week you can't find a place big enough. I can't find a place with ceilings high enough to put a hoist in. If you need any help I'm more then happy to help you. It's gotten to the stage where I'm seriously thinking of selling both my SS's so I can apply for a bank loan and by a premisses somewhere.

Good luck with it mate

Due to the nature of the intended business (ie: no workshops at this stage) it will be much easier to find a suitable bldg.

The GC would be nice, but for convenience I think it will be closer to brissie than the GC. Maybe even near yatala on the M1 for a compromise.
Not at the "finding a bldg" stage yet.

Its possibly the wrong way to go, but I'd like to try it on my own first. I think mainly so that I am not responsible to anyone else in the event of a failure.

in saying that cyber tech its one of the WORST things oyu can do not to go into a partership.
For then if the business does fail and you owe like 1 million dollars they dont give a shit theyll take your house car, kids, dog, let testicle whatever they can sell to get the money. If you have 1 or more partners (the more the better to a point) your liability becomes limited and they have to stop and leave you something....... have a think about it, its pretty risky business doin it yourself but if it pulls off THE GLORY OHHHHHH THE GLORY laugh.gif

Good luck remember any troubles gimme a bell thumbsup.gif
