G'day all,
Thinking of starting a new business in something like a former service station (as there are plenty closing down lately) and making it a drifters shop.

Things like:
Drift merchandise like vidz, clothes, stickers, etc.

Small bolt on parts, like pods, rice canons, computers, etc.

Maybe a few internet terminals and a lounge and big screen showing drift vidz (like 101 AutoCafe). Oh, and a fridge full of Ice Break.

Anyone have any more ideas?
This doesnt mean its gonna happen, but it'd be good to see some feedback before I start the ball rolling with banks and shit.

On the Gold Coast somewhere would be good just make sure its got a BIG carpark and lounge chairs and shit. Oh and better stock up some V in that fridge but yes it would be a good idea. A prime spot would be the old disused servo on the left hand side of the M1 just before the Smith St exit. Its perfect, nowhwere near anyone with high exposure to traffic and plenty of parking. Just needs some TLC tongue.gif

You've pretty much covered it there. Perhaps alcoholic beverages?

Could also sell high octane fuel - hell, you'll have the tanks and bowser, might as well use it.

thumbsup.gif Sounds good.

If you could sell High Octane fuel from the pump i'm sure it would be popular. I'd use it for starters.

Alcoholic beverages would be too difficult. Liquor licence and all that shit.
And I think selling fuel would have its own little headaches too.
But that servo would be a pearler if it had decent access from the M1.

Yeah and drift monkey stickers!!! tongue.gif
Sounds like a really good idea, should make it gold coast based. Maybe not single it out purely as a drifters shop because you would want to attract more business and people from different car genres. Still make it based around drifto? I dunno. Off to work I go.

Not all aftermarket modifications around are solely based on the aspect of drifting MissLancer. Which is why Cam also said "computers, bolt ons" ect ect. To be a thriving business means it would need to be full of the latest and greatest equipment around - something for everyone. Even *shudder* neons.

Can I buy some Naws there?
"Garage Cybertech" perhaps?
Maybe "Team Garage Cybertech"
Beware of employing guys who turn out to be informants for the police investigating a huge spate of Honda Civic's with neons.

Hell yeah sounds like a mad idea,

Let me know if it goes ahead and I might be able to hook you up with some sweet ass furniture for it.

BTW that servo on the M1 is already being looked at by a LOT of people. I am thinking that you may have to look for another site as I suspet one this popular and close to te M1 will go very quickly and for big $$$$'s too.

Meh ! anyway hope it all goes well, good luck setting it all up

mate top idea.
*2 thumbs up*

i'd frequent a plave like that every fri and sat nite instead of the broady carpark to be honest.
and if you have enuf performance gear there i'll buy some of ya too wink.gif smile.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
the servo in question is a great idea. it used to be a old bp servo theres an access road to it from both helensvale south and smith street highway exits.

theres a few benches/table there and there would prob be room for 50-75 cars in the actaul servo plus the service road as well. the service road is one that is bearly used by other motorist so we will not be under the constant eye of the general public incase some dickhead decides he want to be a hero and drop a skid in front of everyone.

maybe try and hold a fundraiser to get the capital together to get the idea going.

cheers.joe.

If we get somewhere on the Logan River, we can even have jet ski racing from the rear.
And a couple of houseboats for guests to stay on.

When/If it happens it will be fully refurbished.

The sort of bucks involved would be slightly more than a fund raiser could bring in.

IF it happens (and the feedback is good so far) it will be done properly so it aint gonna be cheap.

There are plenty of old servos around so the choices are there.

If you are really serious about this give me a ring on 0414703951
I am a Business Consultant and MIGHT be willing to part with some green if you need capital. All depends on just how professionally you want to go about it. Most businesses die in the first 6 months because people get caught up in the euphoria of their brilliant idea, before you go jumping in make sure you have a business plan and some goals set out, and especially a budget, its easy to get carried away spending the money on cool shit and stock.

You sound like a sensible guy anyway - need any advice or if you are interested in a bit of capital let me know. I can probably also help you out looking for a shop, if you give me a budget I've got some Real Estate contacts that specialize in this area.

Thanks, I shall seriously keep you in mind.
I am at the research stage at the moment, and am drafting a business plan as we speak.

Finance will be the next step once I have checked out small business grants.

Unfortunetly your going to make sure you utilize the market. You wont get away on little bits here and there. You will have to go all out and make sure you bring in the customers. Afterall it is a business and you dont want to lose money.

Be daring, step away from the crowd. The internet terminals and screen are a great idea.

But good luck Cam.

Thanks again benigno, but being sysadmin for an ISP kinda helps that side.
Thats the easy part, getting finance and starting is the hard part.

laugh.gif nice....... finance is relatively easy to get with the right business plan etc.
As long as the bank can see your gonna be able to pay them back theyll normally fork out......
Alternates are a capital loan or small business grant via govt.
Otherwise, gimme a buzz or a PM or something and Illg ive oyu a hadn to write out some letters to potential sponsors.... get em to fork out some dosh in return for advertising..... via the big screen, signs etc.

hey cybertech i have met you once and you seem like a really switched on guy, and this has prooved it. Nice idea i hope it all works out, i think it would be Gold Coast based because we now have the 101 Cafe in Brisbane or if you could find somewhere between Brisbane and the Gold Coast that would be perfect. I can just picture half of the people watching the footy on a bigscreen and the other half playing internet games or something haha. But i would buy all my performance gear off you good luck and i cant really help much, except walk around everywhere and hand out flyers? lol but good luck bud hope it works out for ya thumbsup.gif

Out near mudgee there are some old factorys i think with a private street so you can hav a gathering of cars and its away from residentail areas so you can make some noise.

you could do something like the 101 motorcafe, big workshop, drinks, food, parts, big tv etc

have organised meets and shows there.

it'l be sweet if it goes ahead, fair bit of money though

and don't forget a HUGE carpark
