![]() ![]() Thanks to everyone who has nominated and paid to come racing at Drag Day. As this event is only a few days away, entries are now closed. If you have to pull out for some reason, unfortunately it will be up to you to source a replacement for the day. This is due to exhausting all known areas to run a full event, as well as lack of time for internet transfers for the cost of the day. I will however assist with updating the initial post to reflect spots available. Ok boys and girls this has been a long time coming!! As some of you are aware almost 2 years ago to the day we had a Boostcruising Drag Day at Willowbank Raceway where 70 competitors hired the track out for the day. The amount of runs on average was about 15 with one person even getting 28 in for the day. The purpose of this post is to let you know it's happening again!! This event is open to anyone registered on this forum. It's a case of first in best dressed so those that have their place paid for first are guaranteed a spot; the numbers are limited yet again so get in quick. PM me for bank details, if you're concerned about my authenticity I'm sure the owner of the site, Mcleod will vouch for me. This time we are limited to 80 cars/bikes, I'll keep a tally of those that have expressed enthusiasm with a paid comment once paid. SPONSORS OF THIS EVENT ARE: * McKern and Associates * McKern Racing * Hartnett Lawyers * Smart Sparks Commentator for the day organised by McKern Racing is Chris Diggles who does Jambo. The information is as follows: Location: Willowbank Raceway Champions Way Willowbank Date: Sunday 5th November 2006 Time: 9:00am to 3:00pm (gates opening 8:00am) Ok update for everyone ... the passes will be given out on the day by me at the gate. Rest assured your address went no further than my spreadsheet at work and the columns are being deleted right now. The initial plan 'was' to post them out but it'll be easier on the day. Gates open at 8am ... please be there then because when racing starts at 9am I'll be in the staging lanes. Cost: $85.25 per entrant Positions Available: 80 Rain Out policy: The hirer will be responsible for any expenses incurred by Willowbank Raceway up until the time of the cancellation. eg ANDRA Permit is to be paid once the gates are open, Ambulance cost per hour, Officials, Track set-up, ect... If cancelled prior to the half way point a refund of 30% would be available. If cancelled after the half way point no refund would be available. If you would like to make a rain date that would be fine, we could see what is available. This is only possible if it is cancelled before the event starts. Payment is to be made PRIOR TO FRIDAY THE 13TH OCTOBER 2006 NO EXCEPTIONS. We need to fill the 80 positions for this to happen, I don't think that will be a problem though. If you've paid for your position and can no longer make it you need to on-sell it, I have 79 other positions to worry about. Key differences this time to last time * Cars that run quicker than 10.99 can run! (as long as you have an ANDRA licence and log book) * Spectator entry is FREE!!!! Willowbank Raceway Inc. will supply: Ambulance Service Fire Service Timing System 10 Track officials Track Surface cleaned. Traction compound is an additional cost. Australian National Drag Racing Association Sanction. Catering will be supplied by the contracted Willowbank Raceway caterer. See below for Vehicle/Entrant safety requirements. The hirer is responsible to ensure all Competitors are aware of Safety requirements - you are being made aware here and now! Willowbank Raceway has the right to refuse to allow any entrant to race if the vehicle is considered to not meet the necessary standards set by the Raceway. Now for the nitty gritty - as some of you may remember last time cars that ran quicker than 10.99 couldn't run, this time you can ![]() The information below is the minimum requirements for each competitor. All vehicles MUST CHECK IN at the back of the Staging Lanes before their first run. All drivers/riders must sign the Entry Form. A second person may drive/ride a vehicle BUT they must sign the Entry Form. After signing the Entry form your arm will be stamped and you must show the stamp to the Official at the head of the Staging Lanes. (The following requirements are set as a guide only - and are subject to change at any time) If your CAR runs slower than 10.99, you will need the following: Protective Clothing: Long sleeves, long pants, shoes & socks Helmet: SNELL SA 90, SA 95, SA 2000, SA 2005, SFI 31.2(US) OR SNELL M 90. M 95, M2000, SFI 41.2 (US) BS 6658-85 Type A (British) OR SNELL 1990/1995/2000/2005 - SFI 31.1 (US) OR BS 6658 -85 Type A/FR (British) OR AS 1698 1974/1988 (Australian) Seat Belt: slower than 11.99 minimum three point lap/sash required quicker than 11.99 minimum four point harness required >>>UPDATED WITH AN EXTRACT FROM THE RULE BOOK - THESE ARE NOT NEW RULES<<< QUOTE 4.10.11 Safety Belts / Harnesses Sedans slower than 11.99 (1/4 mile)/7.70 (1/8 mile): . Minimum of quick release, lap/sash (three-point) type required, complying with Australian Standard E35. and AS 2596. Sedans quicker than 11.99 (1/4 mile)/7.70 (1/8 mile) or faster than 110mph (176 kph): . Minimum of four-point harness that complies at least with Australian Standard E35 and also AS 2596. Sedans faster than 130mph (208 kph): . Five-point harness required (incorporating crotch strap). Safety Belts/Harnesses - General Regulations a) All belts must be in good condition, and securely fastened to the frame, or a suitably reinforced mounting point. Reinforcement must be a minimum of 75mm (3 inches) by 75mm (3 inches) by 3mm (1/8 inch). b) Restraint systems should be fitted in the manner recommended by the manufacturer, using the hardware supplied. c) Under no circumstances should bolts be inserted through belt webbing, and the webbing should not cross any surface sharper than a diameter of 10mm (3/8 inch). Protective plates are mandatory where belts wrap around a frame area exposed to abrasion, in the event of wheel loss. d) Shoulder harness must be installed in such a manner that they will limit the travel of the driver's body both upward and forward. Shoulder straps mounted behind the driver must be above a line drawn downward from the shoulder, at an angle of 40 degrees to the horizontal. e) Where the two shoulder straps join prior to a common mounting point, that junction shall be at least six inches behind the driver's neck. f) All safety belts incorporating a lever type centre buckle that may be opened accidentally by the driver's movements, must be fitted with a quick release cover or flap to prevent the buckle from being accidentally released. >>>UPDATED WITH AN EXTRACT FROM THE RULE BOOK - REGARDING TAIL SHAFT LOOPS<<< All rear wheel drive competition cars with elapsed times quicker than 12.99(1/4 mile)/8.30(1/8 mile), using open drive shafts, must have a retainer loop. 360 degrees of enclosure, 3mm(1/8 inch) minimum thickness and 50mm (2 inches) wide, or 22mm (7/8 inch) X 1.62mm (.065 inch) welded steel tubing, securely mounted and located within 150mm (6 inches) of the front universal joint for support of the drive shaft in event of universal joint failure. It is recommended that the loop be round to minimise loading. On rear wheel drive sedans with fabricated floors, the width and location of the loop should take into account the location of the front yoke and universal in relation to the driver. If your BIKE runs slower than 10.50, you will need the following: Protective Clothing: Leather jacket or equivalent, long pants, gloves, boots & socks Helmet: SNELL SA 90, SA 95, SA 2000, SA 2005, SFI 31.2(US) OR SNELL M 90. M 95, M2000, SFI 41.2 (US) BS 6658-85 Type A (British) OR SNELL 1990/1995/2000/2005 - SFI 31.1 (US) BS 6658 -85 Type A/FR (British) OR AS 1698 1974/1988 (Australian) If a car runs quicker than 10.99 or bike runs quicker than 10.00 (THIS IS NEW!!) the vehicle and driver/rider must comply with all relevant ANDRA safety requirements. Any vehicles running quicker than these times at an event and does not comply with the relevant ANDRA safety requirements will not be permitted to take any further part in the event. JUNIOR DRAGSTER COMPETITORS must comply with all ANDRA requirements. If the competitor runs quicker than the allowed time they will not be permitted to take any further part in the Event. ALL ANDRA license holders must present license and log book and complete the Competitor Declaration. ***ALL VEHICLES MUST COMPLY WITH RELEVANT ANDRA SAFETY REQUIREMENTS*** NOS - No problem with the NOS as long as they display the diamond on the rear window so all our safety officials know that they are running NOS (you will also need to make sure you have a tail shaft loop and relevant harness if your speed and mph is up there) ** Ok the pricing is worked out like this It's $6000 to hire the track for 80 competitors and that price is valid until the 30th September 2006. Willowbank can not give me the exact increase in pricing until then but expect it to be 3% (CPI). So I've already put 3% on the $6000. $6000 + 3% = $6180 $6180 / 80 competitors = $77.25 $77.25 + $8.00 public liability levy per competitor as stipulated by Willowbank = $85.25 This could go up a bit more but both Willowbank and I are hoping not, that's why up top I've said $85.25 at this stage. Please don't be upset come the 30th September 2006 if you need to pay a few more dollars. I'll be on to this though and doing my best to keep it where it is. Hopefully the free spectator entry is enough to keep everyone happy! Two years ago the cost was $73.50 per car and $15 spectator entry so I personally think this is a good price. *edit* Willowbank have advised the increase is 3% so we are spot on! Also just a reminder to everyone ... the entry form you fill out on the day only allows for 2 drivers to fill in their details ... therefore only 2 drivers per vehicle are allowed!! Those that went to this last time can attest to how awesome the day was!! NBR was introduced ![]() ![]() I hope this is just as good as the fantastic day organised by Chris (BoostedS15) two years ago and thanks to another Chris (Ralliski) for the nudge to do this. NBR was introduced ![]() Ohh this is going to be so good, last year was fantastic, and when i made my NBR debut (No Bonnet Racing) Whether or not i race this time is still undecided, but ill be there regarless, The first one of these was a huge success guys with so many people having fun, racing their mates without having to wait half an hour for a run, I did a total of 20 runs last time, and that was having alot of breaks (enough time to remove my bonnet, light, and grill, and then replace them again a little while later) NiSlo broke the record that day for the most runs in one sessions, getting in 28 runs for just under $80 which is pretty good considering your everyday test and tune is $35. in most cases you were the 2nd or 3rd in the staging lane, or at some points you just drove straight onto the strip Cant wait!! ![]() ![]() |
