Yeh it's a really basic rule that should always be considered.
U should look at reading over a really basic photography tutorial like this one: http://photoinf.com/General/Geoff_Lawrence/Composition.html - I cant find the one i did but this covers most of the basics of composition. My basic knowledege of photography is from 15mins of reading!
