my left mouse button is being a bit weird. It doesn't always register as a click, and other times it thinks it is a double click and closes too many windows at once.

i don't think it is the computer as i was using a different mouse (ball one) and it was fine.

is it possible to get the big bit of plastic off and give it a clean out? it's a microsoft 5 button intellimouse thingy that i got 4 years ago.

or do i just count my losses and buy a new one?

Mouses are cheap these days and I think you should just go out and buy a cheap 2 button + scroll optical mouse, unless you need extra buttons or special features on the mouse for a particular reason such as gaming. I've never tried it, but I'm sure that mouse face and come off but I'm just not sure about if it's able to be reattached like a keyboard key.

Yeah it happened to my logitech one, fortunately it also kept blowing up batteries so i took it back and got it a new one under warranty. I think the problem with mine was because it was wireless though, sometimes didnt have a strong enough signal,or maybe it was just a shithouse mouse.
