Really like the 3rd of the set at the top of the page. Nice comp and deep, bold blues. Stands out.

Nice bokeh on the owl shot, what lens?

Well i had my first ever crack at motorbike photo's fuck they are fast and alot harder than cars that's for sure here's a teaser pic he is doing probaly over 200k's here but still going through my photo's then i may post some more.

nice shot, because they go so fast, would still need to have a slow shutter speed? could you use a much faster speed, and still have same blur?

Ghetto Panda
Post #417

That shot was at 1/160th but yeah i tried 1/125th but was'nt get anything i reckon i could have gone up to 1/200th and have still got the blur but maybe better detail i'll have to find some other bike events in the future.

#1 - Good idea but needs to be more dressed up - the polar fleece should be a leather jacket!
The motorsport ones are great too - good, clean quality shots

Well i'm sure everybody has seen Chris F's awesome shots of Dave's "turtle" Honda well here are my crap as attempts. First time i ever done a car shoot and i was at a footy game prior to seeing Dave's car so i did'nt have a tripod so these are all hand held and my batteries in my flash were kinda dead so a little bit high ISO and that's why they are grainy.

chris_F
Post #428

they didn't come out too bad at all. The white balance seems a bit warm in the first two and a bit cold in the third and fourth. You've framed the car well in each shot though - no need to be so harsh on yourself! great stuff for a first go mate.

Cheers Chris i'm just hard on myself because i like to push myself to be better. Well now here's the footy game i went to Easts Tigers vs Tweed Heads Seagulls first QLD rugby match i have been to usually just watch it on the telly but decided to go and give taking pics a crack awesome game too by the way Tweed won 26 - 16.

Sorry for the average pics btw (just for you Chris lol). Was a lot of fun though.

^ yea well you have to be critical of your own work or you'll never improve, but your stuff is far from average and crap - the footy pics rock

The footy pics look pretty damn good to me Brian, great use of DOF, shutters and comp, you also did a good job editing them. They have alot of 'punch' in them. Only crit I have is that the 1st one looks slightly over-sharpened, the rest just look obscenely sharp! But the 1st looks a bit pixelated on the faces.

Cheers

Sweet pannin work Brian, I'm loving the muscle car drift shot!
You might want to watch the comp a bit though, they are looking a little central.

Indeed, as sharp and great they are to see filling the frame it might help to leave a little room for where they're going.

Great panning, but the dust is an issue.
