I like the WB. I'm a sepia freak, so that's no surprise. I was going to suggest sepia+++ing them up... but most people don't seem to like that. |

QUOTE(schMick @ Nov 11 2006, 10:13 AM) I like the WB. I'm a sepia freak, so that's no surprise. I was going to suggest sepia+++ing them up... but most people don't seem to like that. I know you're not into PS much, but maybe if you went for a more sinister/ghostly effect, they might have a bit more impact via atmosphere. Particularly 2 + 3. Make use of the emptyness and age and get it to work for you instead of documenting it. Just some suggestions of what might pick then up a little... I liked 1 and 4 best, but the steering wheel breaking the dash became distracting in the last one. I could see what you were going for, but I think you needed a few tries with different angles before you got there. Did you take any others of the dash that you can post? It's a really good subject. Do you know the owner? #1 has been done on a GREAT angle, but a couple of steps back would have helped give just enough breathing space.. - Mick ![]() Yeh, I am starting to regret not doing number 1 a bit further back. Bit of a bugger. Oh well, I met the guy who's car it is and it is only about a 2 min drive from my place so I could probably go back. I don't want to do full sepia, it is too cliché I far prefer this effect. It looks so much less fake. My PS was done on camera (kinda) I shot the back seat ones at ISO 1600 and under-exposed them, hoping to get some noise... apparently it doesn't want to, and I am reluctant to use filters. I hate doctoring images any more than you can do on the RAW processing. You are welcome to have a crack at it though. I can send u the un-WB one or the WB originals (I have to warn you, they are un-cropped 10.2mp JPEG's so they are between 6.5mb and 8.5mb each). I do have another dash one, but I don't like it, so I wasn't going to put it up. Here it is though. Yes I did mean to over-expose the windows in every shot. I don't want to show the boring, modern suburban street outside the car. I want to keep the mood. Twist, I gotta try and find someone willing to get into that car in clean clothes first! Nickle, Don't worry the V8 Vantage shots are on their way soon ![]() This is the car I'll doing a shoot of soon: |

QUOTE(puzzle man @ Nov 16 2006, 09:37 AM) number 1 find the composition a little cluttered. but numer 2 is nice I've been thinking about what my opinion is of these. Composition is fine. Perspective is good, colour is great - rich and saturated, but there was something that kept me wondering. I think it is the lights. They're clustered together in all of them... I'm sure that going back and playing around with the angles will nail it for you on another night if you explore a bit further. See if you can balance them out a bit more somehow. Maybe a wideangle will help to spread the lights out more? Although, it looks as though you might've used one when considering the prespective. Perhaps it's just the way the lights have been placed and your angles. Keep at it. It's a great location. What aperture/shutter settings were you using? - Mick ![]() |

QUOTE(zmit @ Nov 16 2006, 02:40 PM) yeah. one comment on the second last shoot..... HOW! do u get that kind of surreal imagery :S clarity is spectacular and it looks so surreal. (ur gonna absolutely kill me if u say photoshop ![]() There is no Photoshopping in them, other than very basic RAW editing. I can't explain how, it is just right place, right time. You have to wait for the right lighting to get a decent shot. Put some effort in and you would be amazed at what u can achieve. Mick, I used an f.22, 30 sec, ISO 100, 18mm. Yeh, I wish i had a 10-20mm, but I am wayyy too poor too get anything else, oh well, I might get one later on. Harry |

not bad mate.... i don't think you really need to "pan" with these things... the only thing moving is the propellor, and i had motion blur of them at 1/2000. |

Looking at number 11, its a sharp pan, but fuck me... your lens and or sensor is fucking filthy. You should try doing some tighter crops on all of them i reckon, put the 10.2 mp of the d80 to good use I kinda like the slightly wider stuff, it gives more perspective, but yeh, I should give some tighter stuff a try. They were still about 5mpixels after cropping. I had no idea my sensor was so dirty till today. I'm going to clean it now. Harry |

I recon I could have got some good shots at the Red Bull Air Race with a longer lens, I really needed at least 400mm to get some clear shots. |

QUOTE(vp_s_wagon @ Nov 14 2006, 12:21 AM) I went out and took a few tonight to help me relax after study... Here they are: 1. 2. 3. 4. That little kid was playing in the middle of the road while his mum was getting pissed with her freinds, when I got out of the car, after almost running him over because i didn't see him, his mum started abusing me and trying to hit me because i picked him up to get him off the road! I parked and sat about 100m away, within 2 mins, the kid was back off, wondering around the water's edge, his mum had no idea where he was... So i kept and eye on him till they took him home... Some people! Anyway, that's my rant Harry ![]() |
