Oops sorry "family business company car". Do you own the GTA? I choose my cars and I have an opinion on "rice boys" who put Type R and the like stickers on their car. A lot of them probably think the muffler gets them extra power! I also said that they probably put a stock muffler on a custom system then put a better muffler on to see an increase.

Driving a car which is not the best of a model range doesn't make me have less of an opinion. The fact that you have the opportunity to drive the top model of my car, doesn't give you a bigger voice on a forum. Unless you have experience with putting Type R stickers on a non Type R car, and have experienced some sort of power gain, and can have a rebuttal to my claims that it in fact does not increase the power of the car! tongue.gif

Da Lude, Gonzo's have been around for years. I remember reading about them when I was like 14 (7 or 8 years ago) and they were good then. If drag cars such as top fuelers and the like are using them, then they must be a good company.
I guess any shop could build a premium exhaust if they were paid enough, but it's more about consistently providing the highest quality to the customer, regardless of who they are.

frankxinyu a muffler can give you extra power by decreasing some of the restriction that a stock muffler puts on the exhaust. This said, only putting a different muffler on will give very minimal results. The best gains are when you get a mandrel bent exhaust system, with a hi-flow cat, a sports sort of muffler, and some extractors for the n/a among us. Possibly something like this would give you your 10kw, but it's very unlikely that just changing a muffler will give you that sort of increase.

Other users need to use a bit of maturity, and cut the bullshit. It's what draws away from an otherwise great forum.

my 0.02/$.....

a muffler will not give you more power. even in the odd chance that it did (by being less restrictive) youre talking less than a kw, absolutely no chance of being noticable - unless you are talking about what DAL32 is saying - having a normal one on an upgraded exhaust system, then changing to a bigger one.

as for this mr MYB16.....the % of total civics/integras that i see that are riced up is far greater than that of lancers. it seems if you have a honda and dont have altezzas, massively oversized lawnmower sounding exhaust, neons and over-abundance of Type-R, Mugen, Spoon, etc. stickers than you are a right moron. in reality its quite the opposite. im just sick to death of every honda fanatic on here baggin others for being rice when they are the main offenders. i dont care if you have v-tec yo, all that tripe is still rice.

quit the $hit fights, respond to the topic and get on with it.

i cant say ive ever heard of gonzo mufflers, but a muffler alone cannot give you 10kw more power, flywheel or at the wheels.

nahm you guys are wrong!!!!!

muffler gains 10kws as well as a HSV sticker

maybe a different exhaust tip gives you 100??? i get flogged by Mirages with exhaust all the time, GTRs are so useless........... maybe thats the magic of changing the muffler, better than my weeks of work on my exhaust....... next time, ill make sure i get a heart-shape exhaust tip, make my car a sub 8 sec GTR.

ok guys, everyone is being a bit narrow minded when saying that a muffler cannot give extra power. you really dont even know what a gonzo muffler is if your saying that..

a gonzo muffler is not a normal muffler.. a gonzo mufler has a spiral baffel inside that twists the airflow which creates a venturi (vacume) effect which means that the muffler is actually draging exaust flow out of the system.. therfor its like attaching a vacume cleaner to the end of your exaust pipe. which means that not only does your exaust system have no back pressure, its actually got a vacume affect in it..

so the quicker you pull the exaust gases out of the engine on an exaust stroke, the less exaust gasses are going to be in the next cycle.

i have seen these systems work really well on performance based n/a engines but i have also seen dissapointing results on turbocharged engines (still a gain, but not as big).

yeh my mates dad is gonz,, around here and at the drag strip he is known and respected for his exhausts, mates of mine have waited months in line for systems! and they're nearly impossible to get around bathurst season.. they are an awesome bang for buck, if my gemi was for performance i would be there straight away wink.gif if your unshore just ring him about all the kw upgrade power

Well yes it's true I don't know what a Gonzo muffler is until you just told me biggrin.gif .

Can the gains really be that good when were talking about a muffler upgrade at the back of the car which is usually about 3 metres away from the engine? Does anyone know how they sound? I want to upgrade my exhaust but don't want it sounding like shit (I'll take 1kw less if I can have a good sounding exhaust).
