QUOTE(25YKU @ Jun 26 2006, 04:23 PM) I'm all for holdens and fords getting into drifting, but on average how strong is the aftermarket support for drift setups for these cars? You would have to do a hell of a lot to make a vz ss or a ba falcon driftable wouldnt you? I must also say i was disappointed by the ford at ipswich raceway yesterday i cant drift for shit but it just didnt look like it was setup right or anything? Just my opinion no offence meant to anyone or any arguments started I think you will find they are still setting the car up, will take a while to get it right, bolgers taken a while with the monaro to get it right as well. |

^^^ Ben's right, Robbie's monaro has taken them ages to get it right....as does any good drift car. The tiniest tweek of a part can make all of the difference. DRIF6 is only getting warmed up, I think we will see some good competition from ford once they get their setup right and I can't wait... |

im not a drifter but i rekon holdens and fords in the drift scene is awesome, and they're cheap alternatives to the 6 grand stock silvia option, vn's are only like 1500 for a stocka. As for the whole imports inventing drifting, yeh they may have but i have videos of my dads mates in they're old torries and xw falcons getting some good agles and i dont mean powerskids. |

Your uneducated ramblings did make me laugh somewhat. Having owned and drifted one of the larger "drift" cars availabale from japan, I can quite clearly say that your points about light nimble machines are definatley invalid. Any rwd car can be set to be able to drift, with work. There are numerous examples in Australia, and certainly a hell of a lot more across the world. Bolgers Monaro/Ute, Jeremy's Commodore, Tony Harrisons VN, In america you have Millen who next year is driving a Pontiac Soltisce (LS7 powered), Vitten in the Falken Mustang, Hubinette in the Dodge Viper, Rogers in the El Camino ute, then not to mention the nutters over in Sweeden etc who are drifting 4 door 740 Volvos etc etc etc. People need to realise that its not just soley the domain of japanese cars, merely that the aftermarket backup for drift related parts for japanese cars is so much more readily available than what a lot of "V8" manufactures have. A drift car is exactly as you said, a DRIFT car. If it drifts its a DRIFT car, regardless of make or model. Perhaps one should ask exactly what sort of experience you have in drifting yourself, or are you just another one of those people that are on the bandwagon for the ride? |

LOL ok u compare a fully worked s15 to fully worked V8 mustang and then u tell me which car has the better balance. |

ROFL well no shit any RWD car can go sidewayz, but whats the fun in having so much power? why cause theres more smoke? look at Leighton Fine his got the idea, his probably got a quater of the power the V8's have and his killin everyone. theres no cubic inches in drifting mate |

You still havent answered my question there champ. Have a look at current D1 cars, American D1 cars, UK D1 cars and Australian DA cars. All have a significant increase in power, usually between the 300 - 700hp at the wheels. Whilst Crab certainly has a lot of skill and i respect him immensley, he IS beatable. Hell Darren has proved to everyone that a near standard car can beat built drift cars, HOWEVER, due to the ever increasing skill level associated with competitions, the cars have simply gotten to the point that you need to have significant power to be able to stay competitive, especially here in Aus. Josh Young is a perfect example, one of Australias best N/A drifters, if not the best but eventually he had to go to a turbo setup to stay competitive, same with Beau Yates. At the end of the day, who gives a rats ass, half the goddamn drift cars on tracks nowadays have more power than V8's, with the only exception being Bolgers Monaro. You are merely turning it into a power argument here. |

2drift: Drifting isn't going to always revolve around Japanese cars and you need to accept the fact, that there are much larger cars (Some with V8s, some are family sedans) that will give the Japanese cars, a run for their money and possibly beat them senseless. |
