Unfortunately I'm working so I wouldn't be able to make it - if we had a bit more notice though...

I'd think a blue ribbon attached to the arial would be a reasonable idea. Or tied somewhere else to the car. Something which is easily noticeable and helps show the world our support.

I didn't know Jason but my bosses daughter was his friend in hospital. she died last week from the same disease.
