With a few decent mods eg filter, exhuast some head work there wont be many 4-6cyl n/a cars beating you. I've beaten a few commo's - held my own against a few highly modded cars too. |

my brother had one and once he put a new clutch in it and a zorst it would beat an auto commo and only lose manuals once they got to about the 140 km/h mark. they are prob the fastest na 4cyl that u dont pay biggish insurance for and there are a lot of mods that are available for them |

Most auto Commo's will do a 16.2-16.5 depending if they have a minor mod or not. I've seen pulsars stock, do around 16.5, with extractors/exhaust /filter do anywhere from 15.9+ and with a chip do anywhere from 15.5+ |

From autospeed QUOTE Nissan Pulsar SSS (N14 series) Here’s a popular one with buyers that can’t get ‘turbo’ insurance. The 1991 – 1995 (N14 series) Nissan Pulsar SSS is widely viewed as a quick hatch that’s a good alternative to a turbocharged car. Granted, the N14 SSS employs the wonderful SR20DE between its front strut towers but, sorry, it’s not the speed machine that everyone seems to think. Not with 105kW shifting about 1200kg - 9.0 second 0 – 100 km/h acceleration is the stuff everyday six-pot family cars are made of. Sure, you can quicken things up slightly with an exhaust, intake and ECU mods, but on a regular occasion you’ll still be mincemeat. It’s about now you’ll wish you had a turbo! The N14 SSS is a good all-rounder but don’t be sucked into thinking it’s anything more than that. At current prices – anywhere up to AUD$14,000 for one with a couple of bolt-ons – it seems people have false impressions... way cheaper now tho. |

I very much doubt an N14 SSS would come close to a 15 or high 14... My Clio perhaps pulls a high 14 or very low 15 and will beat most on the road up to 100kmph (reaching it in around 6seconds) i've flogged SSS's before. I was going to say high 16's or low 17's for an N14, even an N15. |

Owned 2 N15 SSS's Series II and I have to say they have been the best 4 cyl's I have owned. The max torque figure may put you off but the SSS has a pretty damn flat torque curve. I remember a while back when I frequently read up on Pulsar Group of Aus forums that a member ran a 15.9 sec in a stock N15 SSS Series II. And many members have run mid to low 15's with the usual mods (full zaust, mod, advanced ignition timing). |

a few year old clio sport 172 is almost exactly the same speed as a 182 cup in a straight line. (And quicker than a new celica w/exhaust on the street by some way it seems.) |

QUOTE(QUICKSR20 @ Jul 21 2005, 02:21 PM) Really, well i have timeslips here that say otherwise. and this table here says otherwise as well.....i think you are misinformed of the sss's potential, however big or small it may be. But as i said before factory states a 16.9 for a standard sss. wasn't he talking about stock times? |
