Im looking to put a turbo on my 04 astra TS CD 1.8 5 spd manual atm only pushen 98 kw haha. Just looking for advice what would be the best how much etc......... you can definatly fit one in there seen some pics of other astras with then running 14 psi boosts. suggestions??? A supercharger would be awesome aswell, the cooper S has them so it must be possibly for a small engin. This post has been edited by crpstra: Apr 21 2005, 12:03 PM -------------------- |

Yer well you can get Astra Turbo's, so you should be able to find an aftermerket one, or a stock one off another Astra somewhere. Yes opel would be a good idea, as the poms seem to specialise in all that stuff, fiat, opel, clios and stuff |

QUOTE(break @ Apr 22 2005, 10:59 AM) Waste of time and money for a Astra CD... the cost to fit a turbo and set your car up for the turbo would be money better spent towards buying a genuine Astra Turbo. Visit www.opelaus.com for more details... but everyone there will think your mad as well. ![]() |

Straight line speed is one thing... but a car as a whole is another. I'd prefer the genuine turbo which has better interior, brakes, suspension, insurance costs, running costs, handling etc...etc...etc... Is the Astra in question a Maroon one, however? If so.... It was quite impressive at Jamboree '04... but still... i'd prefer the genuine turbo.... but thats me. But a $5k budget.... yes it could be done.... but what about suspension? what about brakes? Sure you can go fast in a straight line, but you'll soon find the stock suspension isn't turbo friendly... and the brakes are working fairly hard to pull up the now much quicker car. |

Not realy any point other wise, apart from asthetics. |

You’re also going to have to look at the engine you've got... How many k's, if it’s constantly having little problems, how old it is.... stuff like that. And as it’s been stated, if you do do it, suspension, brakes, fuel lines and pump, actually seeing if a Turbo will fit and work in the engine bay (you can look at it and say it'll fit, but there is the other think of actually fitting it) and drivability. Insurance is another factor, and if it’s your first car, try and see if you can do another mod. cause if it is your first car... your going to spend 5g's on doing an engine mod which is going to upgrade your power a fair bit (if done correctly) and you might not be use to it. |

5g's isn't going to get you much of that stuff. suspension, brakes and body kit (unsure of why) are going to take up most of your 5g budget. And when suspension is talked about, its not just lowered springs, it also includes shocks, and some type of braces. |

Yes i know one will fit, no the power wont be a problem, yes i know the suspension will haft to be done. But what i asked was, if any of u guys had experience knew where how much the custom work is gonna be, where it could be done etc. The motor is pretty new under 30K no major problems so far................ and yer i would trade up for a sriT but im still paying this bitch of and it wouldnt be worth my while yet. |

What you should do is ring a few Euro tuners: TCCA Motorsports in Sydney (should be able to get you suspension and brakes) See if they stock aftermarket parts for your car. Join an English Astra forum, see what they say. As there the ones that are modding Astra's a fair bit. |
