Guys

Just to keep you advised...the ABC were at the 'Off Street' meets last Friday night and filmed for most of the night. They are running the story as their feature story on Stateline on Friday night..I think it is on at 7.30.

You might want to set up your videos as some of your runs might make an appearance.

No unsure.gif we get to see it when everyone else does....I hope this time we get reported properly and not misrepresented like happened on a certain commercial program that shall remain nameless

The dills at 60 minutes. Mark you read the papers, how often have you seen "high powered vehicle", "high powered commodore/falcon" or the medias favourite "the high powered imported skyline" when refering to accidents that happen. Dont often see front page stuff with the photos for a Hyundai or something a little more pedestrian. The media report on things that give ratings, they word the report in a way to ensure those high ratings. That being said I do believe that the ABC should put it together better (and in a truer light) than the commercial stations.

Time will tell.

And how did you manage to spell her name correctly? For those that don't know her..... http://news.ninemsn.com.au/other.aspx?id=4810

All of the female Ch9 reporters are pretty easy on the eyes. http://news.ninemsn.com.au/other.aspx?id=8163

I still think the best was the 25yo reporter who was recently an NT finalised for the Miss Universe Australia pagent. Michelle was it? mmmmmm.

ROFL....if its not cars its girls and if the two share the same interest....Its amazing how the subject can go from nervousness about how we get portrayed in the media to cute reporters...are the two linked? I think we have a pretty good relationship with the media up here actually...they have been pretty good to us and very positive...yeah and they have cute reporters..... rolleyes.gif

Yes they are linked. If you get in the good books with the lovely reporters then you get a good spin on your story wink.gif

Just as a heads up guys...ABC are going to make comment about the Police operation that was run at the TDZ in October last year. We (BTH) have not commented on this and it was referred on to the Police for comment as it was an operational matter.

We focussed squarely on the positive side of things and what has been achieved over the last 12 months by the continued patronage of the 'off street' meets.

ABC were however aware of the Op and that X number of cars got issued defect notices as a result of "illegal street racing" which we know is not quite correct. I have gone to great pains to clarify this with the ABC and so have police media as it was not an instance of all the cars that got caught up in the operation were illegally racing...and as such have cautioned about the use of statistics.

However...in saying that, it will no doubt be used to highlight the problem and will draw attention to activities at the TDZ but that is why we are doing what we are doing. If people are still going to the TDZ to do stuff illegally when a viable and legal alternative is being provided that we are trying to develop further...then they deserve what they get and any criticism arising from it.

I have been assured however that the story is a positive one but I wont stop going grey or put down the worry beads until about 8.00pm tomorrow night...

I think I heard State Line was going to be on at 9Pm tomorrow night due to some coverage of something. Don't quote me on that, check the papers. ^_~

Anybody with half a brain will notice that the media may stretch the truth a bit, and in some cases, the only resemblence of truth in their reports is that the Media was there to ask stupid question (even that is sometimes not true!).
Sadly, the people watching don't have half a brain, and tend to write stupid things.

I was pulled over driving past the weightbridge at TDZ (now it's Darwin business park apparently) on my way out to my workshop to do some 'midnight oil' work.
I thought it was funny actually, someone (who was driving a car that looks like it might go quick, or belonged to a hoon) was heading out to work at 2AM. I was asked if I was joking. Which I wasn't. Very funny... Ah well. ^O^ The reality is that dickheads who DO do that sort of thing SHOULD be fined for breaking the law.
If you're car is defected, then you probably deserve it up here. I've never really heard too many people up here experience wrong doings when getting a defect, most of them do deserve it. Next time I see a car doing a burnout ou the weight bridge pads though, I'm getting my truck from the work shop... Shit, I'll get the forklift, and fuck the car up.

Dude come on the reality is that not that many people work out at hudson creek area at night, especially 2am. If I was a policeman in the same situation I would be skeptical of your doings aswell at that time of night, in that car, given the TDZ situation.
You can't complain about that...

somebody trevor knows got done in that blitz last year for having a "loose item in trunk"

the loose item was thier speaker box, and aparantly a car is unroadworthy unless everything in your boot is bolted down.

he was being a smart arse, but he wasnt racing or doing nuts.

ROLLER
Post #30

Yes I talked to that person on that night.... I was there and got looked over and no defect....phew... but that was a joke about the speaker box there was no way that could have come through the back seat it was to big to fit....lol

Just saw the add for it just now. Its posponed slightly to cover the popes funural. The add focuses more on TDZ and the burnouts, with "BTH" just mentioned as an inative.

Hopefully the full story will be a little more upbeat.

NCC
Post #34

That's stupid. They shouldn't even mention TDZ but say that there were "off street drags" last friday and the BTH initiative is getting more successful with 20(?)+ cars racing and a good crowd at the meet.
