this is the shit i hate about some people on the forums.

No one in this world (unless they are a fuckwit rich person) buys a brand new car because of its ability to drift.

DRIFT IS NOT SOMETHING YOU CONSIDER WHEN YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT A BRAND NEW CAR.

And for those who whinge about a 300kw GTS drinking fuel, if you have the dosh to spend on such a car, you have the dosh to fuel it.

300kw NA V8 all the way for me smile.gif

But since I already own a 310kw NA V8 I'm a tad biased.
I can always stroke it, charge it or twin turbo it later. Or maybe a combination wink.gif

You're comparing apples and oranges again, you're as bad as Pensioners Insurance Agency.

Hahahaha I'll pay that.....

The idea of the poll for "grunt" could be anything from a Masarati to a Porsche for outright grunt. But yeah, it was based on the new Holden motor having 300kw's. Yes mostly the big kw cars are heavier than the lightweight turbo-charged cars, but it was set up to be fun, by the looks of it the Grunts are doing alright compared to the Boosts being in a biased site like this one.

Boost could be anything from the turbo car world under 200kw's, WRX to Evo.

I got the inspiration from reading last month's Motor magazine that compared the Evo 8, FPV F6 Typhoon and the new LS2 R8 I think it was, and the Commodore came out on top in all aspects, handling through to performance.

I'm still miffed as to how a 200kw turbo car has more top end than a 300kw V8 :S

Then again, I know of a 255hp turbo VL that is dead even with a 310hp V8 VY... tongue.gif

Drifting with one finger is obviously going to show how good the cars handling and balance is. An evo 8 in the hands of an experienced race driver can also out handle an awd lambo in the hands of an experienced race driver. The only prob with the evo 8 is it has some pretty bad lag and if your not in at the right revs your stuffed.

Whatchew talking about, 1st 2nd 3rd is dead even. Then I run out of gears smile.gif Not legs tongue.gif Stupid 4th gear equipped auto boxes. Fancy-schmancy things.

1:1 is as far as any box should go, cruising at 5000rpm is good mmkay?

Then what does Motor magazine tell you about which is better out of the two cars? (GTO versus Evo)

Hrmmm................

And Menco, no one should ever have to handle the car in such a way as you are describing for road use.

And once again no one here would buy either of these cars for only track use.. (money point.)

Both have their own advantages but cubes will always win when it comes to modifying cars, unless you don't plan on trying to get more power out of the car. Don't see why people worship the apparently powerful BA falcons, the typhoon was pulled out of Wheels COTY because it can't handle its own power, thats pretty pathetic.. On another note, F.I.T.'s turbo commodore v6 ( was originally a supercharged v6 ) ran a 11 second pass using the stock block.

Why not just straight out ask 300kw LS2 Commodore or 200kw turbo Evo8?

Based on the poll question alone, I'd take the 300kw and thats all there is to that. 300kw is 150% the power of the 200kw car, regardless of how it makes it. Having 200kw in a turbo car is hardly "top end", especially compared to a 300kw non-turbo car. The non-turbo car would smash it stupid in every way, except the ability to hold traction in the wet - and even then the torque spike of a 200kw turbo car would probably just as much of a handful to drive.
^ This is assuming all other attributes are equal, which in what the REAL reason for your poll is, they arent. You're comparing apples and oranges again, you're as bad as Pensioners Insurance Agency.

Back in the day when I was running 195rwkw I went up against a few GTO's (300kw). They didn't have much once they hit 150ish km/h. We're roughly the same weight, but totally different in where the power is located. This was from a roll, but from a dig I'd get smashed. Don't know....maybe I'm a freak. btw they weren't being Sally's, they were racing.

* All done @ QR of course.

the LS2 and LS1 are two of the most easily modifiable NA motors out at the moment. The LS2 is capable of round 500kw with very little modification, the 300kw are considered detuned majorly.

And Nizpro ran 11.3 at 127mph on a stock block on pump fuel. What's your point? Ohh you have none just taking the time to bash Fawd over something you know squat about.

Ohh and they ran 11.1@131mph with a built motor and the same bits hanging off it the next week.

Sting for baiting all you guys, or all the ones that chose the underpowered turbo cause it makes Phhsssttt sounds.

How can a motor make a car handle.

MCS-83
Post #62

The typhoon was pulled out the COTY award because it blew two clutches, a gearbox and a diff during the testing. wheels decided it didn't deserve to be put up as it would just embarrass ford. and your comparing a old buick pushrod motor that was running on pump fuel to something with double over head cams. i was just saying thats pretty amazing times for that type of motor and car, fuckin rice worshipers

The Pupat
Post #63

You seem to want to take every chance to bag out Fawd from one little clutch drama in one specific spec level.

Holden had just as many problems with their cars but they didn't ever admit there was a problem. Every see how many PS system MOTOR blew up on Holdens and HSVs? Just about every one they tested on a race track.

the R8 came out above the evo in motor........

I'd take the Evo8, the handling of those new evo's is phenomenal. On twisty stuff it would own most other cars on the road. The computer controlled diffs constantly vary as it detects how you're going round the corner. It's a work of art.

Stuit
Post #66

the R8 came out ahead of the evo 8 but only because of its interior and extras pretty much. the leather dash or the climate control or somthing like that. creature comforts. the evo 8 won every performance test. acceleration, quarter mile, mountain climb, track etc.

all I know is ford bashing is getting quite old these days.

ford members don't post up and then somehow turn it into paying out on a holden - however nearly every post diehard holden fans seem to make includes some way of pointing out something about ford.

fact is, ford has their problems, but how many ls1's have been rebuilt still under warranty? how much oil do a few ls1's use?

..
that's right.
