Post #1 post 18th January 2005 - 06:52 AM
ok, so as i was on my way to dropping a mate off at her place tonight, i adjusted my rear view mirror, and the farkin thing fell off AGAIN!! {2nd time this year}

anyways, when it fell off the first time, i used aroldite (glue) to fix it and that worked with no problems at all.... now i try and use the same glue again... and it just ABSOLUTLY fucks up everything - by this i mean, that i put a bit of the aroldite on the windscreen and it drips off and glues one of the stereo buttons down angry.gif - i got the glue off but the button is still a bit sticky and the glue just gets all over everything - it shits me off, but also for some reason, the glue isnt sticking the rear view mirror to the windscreen... - and yes, the 2 surfaces are clean.

angry.gif

so what i want to know is what is the best glue to use to stick the rear view mirror onto the windscreen?

- should i get some more aroldite and try it again? or is there some special glue that works on glass.

this is pretty urgent - because i have tried driving with the mirror just dangling there - and that distracts me a fair bit, so i need to get this done no later than tomorrow arvo.

thanks guys in advance if you can help me out.

Laters, James.

Have you tried industrial style double sided tape? Works a treat for most things smile.gif

Was it really necessary telling us you dropped your girlfriend home? hsdance.gif

Can you make a single post without mentioning skitz_barbie?

Also, clean the two surfaces and let them dry fully, then put two part epoxy on the rear vision mirror and push it on the windscreen. Then tape it to the windscreen for 24 hours until the epoxy fully hardens.

Go to an autoglass repair store and get some black urethane. This is damn sticky stuff and is used all the time in applications like this. My bet is that it would be the same price or cheaper than buying all these special glues.

you know you can go to either super shite or autobarn and actually buy glue for sticky mirrors to glass. thinks it's called mirror glue???

When mine fell off I just took it too the machanic because I had to work all week and couldn't make it to the shops to buy glues etc.

Cost $40 for the glue kit and labour from shell auto care
