Had a day at the coast today, spent a bit of time looking around, there are several locations for a BBQ, the main cost meeting spot, Alex Heads next to the surf club has a set of BBQ's located in between the surf club and the skate park. If these are not the best then there are other locations such as the boat place and so forth but i believe this would be the easiest as it keeps everything in a similar area.

By the way to the poor fulla who knocked all his front teeth out today on the skate park. I feel your pain

oi jimbo about the BBQ does it need to happen, i mean i am happy to have it or whatever it just means that ppl will have to buy the food and then spend a couple of hours cooking and cleaning up.

but if you wanna do it, as i said i will eat the food

just something you might wanna consider, maybe run a poll, i dunno.

cheers rob thumbsup.gif

Very true. And in a lot of ways people want their own choice. Talking it over with luke have decided to leave the bbq idea for now. But if on the day people decide thats what they want coles is just up the road so its still a viable option. thumbsup.gif

i am more than happy to include a goal coast meeting spot however i do not know of one as im not familiar with the area, the most obvious of places would be the BWCP, but as this is a saturday there might not be space? i am not sure how big it is cuz i am not a real regular down there but if anyone can let me know where and what time the meet should be (as to hopefully meet at Mooreyfield BP at the same time as the rest) i shal include it. thumbsup.gif

Courier Mail Article: 4th January

Cruising Teenager Drives for Charity

News: Mark Hinchliffe

James Hall was sitting inthe back seat of a friends BMW 540 on October 2 when his door took most of the impact froma power pole, tree and a fence.

The Brisbane teenager woke up from a coma 18 days later.

Now the self confessed "hoon" is organising a charity cruise next month for motor fans to raise money for the Intensive Care Unit at the royal brisbane Hospital where he spent a month recovering from his injuries.

"Doctors and emergency staff worked around the clock on me and have done so on many others, only to recieve very little if any recognition for the miracles they perform each and every day" he said.

"There is no doubt that i would not be alive today if it werent for a small group of people not giving up when others would have."

Hall suffered a bi-lateral skull fracture causing massive bleeding from the ears, nose, mouth and eyes, six broken ribs which punctured both lungs. His blood would not clot and he began to haemorrhage internally, his right lung filling with blood and collapsing.

He went into acute respiratory distress syndrom and suffered a multi-organ failure.

"I was not expected to live through the night and many family members, our reverend, and many close friends were claled into the hospital at two in the morning to say goodbye"

"It was to the amazement of the staff that when they arriced in the morning my levels had picked up and i was making an attempt to stabilise"

He remained in a coma hooked up to 26 machines untill waking up 18 days after the accident.

The he had to learn to eat, drink, break and walk again with the daily help of intensive care unit staff.

"Without the help of the people in Intensive Care i know there is no chance i would be here today"

Hall still enjoys motoring, is a proud owner of a modified Peugeot 206 and a member of a motoring online forum called Boostcruising.com

He meets with people of a similar interest at Aspley MacDonalds on thursday nights, Harries Diner on Friday nights, and the Gold Coast esplanade on Sunday.

"Like the rest of the cruising scene, we have been accused of things such as organising street racing and other illegal events" he said. "I can guarantee that is false".

"The sole purpose of this website and others like it is to promote cars, and give a place for people with similar interests to gather and organise meets of a laid back nature"

Hall wants his Boostcruising mates and others interested in modified cars to join him in a charity cruise on January 15 to the sunshine coast to raise money for the intensive care unit at RBH.

"Our first and foremost priority is to raise money from people donating their spare change that we can then pass on to the doctors and staff at Royal Brisbane, but it is also to raise awareness throughout the community as to what actually happened and hopefully change a few attitudes towards hooning" Hall said.

"We want to show members of the community that just because we carry an interest in cars does not make us thugs, criminals or dangerous in any way, It is the fault of a small minority that we have recieved such a label"

Details of the cruise are yet to be finalised but those interested should check out the boostcruising.com website.

Congrats Jimbo on a job well done. thumbsup.gif

That is the first 'positive' thing I have read about 'hoons' in the paper for ages. It only took someone (Jimbo) to nearly die. dunno.gif

I'll be there, and hopefully this cruise gets a LOAD of positive coverage. thumbsup.gif

Got head spins from scrolling through posts wink.gif

A few people have said they are coming from Ippy & Western areas.. is there a meeting spot for them? (I may have missed it in the posts?) Has been suggested Shell Goodna 10.00 to allow time to get to Meeting Spot 1 at Aspley by 11.00am... unless there is a meeeting spot closer?

I would like to be there, but have double booked that morning.. should be able to move things around so that I can make it though.

jimbo
Post #174

No worries, as long as you dont mind rounding people up and saying lets get moving. Happily added a third meeting spot for the benefit of the people cruising from ipswich and surrounding areas. thumbsup.gif
