I drive a mirage, and was wondering what the easiest mods can be done (as in engine) to get a little bit more power. A friend told me to get new spark plugs and leads, but I am not sure which to get. Could someone tell me what the best thing is to do?

57ING is about rite there..... Actually i heard that the EVO drivetrain with a few mods can be adapted to the mirage....

the only real way to get powa out of the mirage is turbo.....

Simple mods you can do is tuned extractors with a full exhaust, add a panel air filter in the stock air box. After that mods become more difficult.

If you've got money, EVO motor is the answer.

You'll find that spark-plugs and leads aren't going to get you much, if any power increase wink.gif

It comes down to how much you want to spend:

About $2000
-Headers

-Full Exhaust

-Pod Filter

-Larger Throttle body

About $5000-6000
-Turbo/Supercharger conversion...at this price you might want to look around for second-hand parts. You wouldn't want to be running a huge amount of boost due to the mirage's weak internals.

-Might want better brakes too wink.gif there goes some more money

About $10000
-Evo motor conversion...i'm not sure if the evo engine can be converted to just run FWD or whether you need the entire 4WD system? If so, you will be spending HEAPS more.

-Mivec conversion isn't too bad either, but you have to rev the hell out of the car to get it going anywhere.

-Bigger turbo conversion...strengthened pistons, conrods, nice BB turbo, and a decent FMIC. I think i remember that RPW had a drive-in-drive-out 11-second lancer turbo kit for about 15000, so you should be able to get a pretty decent conversion for that kinda money wink.gif

-New suspension and brakes would be a must...gonna cost a bit


Above $10000

-Buy something which is designed for performance, and dont try making a grocery-getter faster wink.gif You will also have decent resale if you just buy something fast in the first place.

yea really depends on your budget.. what toxin said is pretty spot on..

if you want performance as opposed to a grocery getter, you will really have to buy a performance car i.e skyline, 180sx, vlt, etc etc.. unless of course you really love the mirage and are willing to spend the money... aint gona be cheap but

otherwise, i would just say a new air filter, some decent extracors into maybe a 2 1/4 inch system.. thats really bout the extent of it until you really throw some cash at it

prob just get an exhaust system, pod and some extractors then maybe think bout lowering it. That wd b pretty sweet. Good luck anyhoo smile.gif

put a 4g93 in it , i have a mate who is putting one into a proton 4 door hatch , and they have 4g15s in them standard so maybe the mirage might be a pretty easy fit up aswell dunno.gif

That engine/vehicle was desighn as a low cost commuter car. It will be very expensive to extract power from.

As for 'NEW' spark plugs. The only 'NEW' spark plug which is proven to give any gain in max power output is 'bosch super 4' But this power gain is under 3%/

I would suggest putting a rear muffler on to make it at least sound the part, and save for ur dream car.

yeah, just get a nice soundin' stereo so u got tunez, then save for a nice car... unless ur hell bent of a highly modded (yes it will have to be highly modded if u want any sort of speed) mirage.
