Thats unfortunate. Hope you get some compensation for the defective airbag.
I just hope that the speed limit was 100, cause if you were speeding, you got no hope.
Wish you all the best on your recovery.

Lucky to live through that one. thumbsup.gif
A question, did the wrx have seatbelt pretentioners?
Judging by where the back of the truck is, something would of had to hold him back or he would have much more facial damage than that. Good luck with the compensation claim for the airbag, hope all goes well.

This sould be one of those pic thats the gov uses to shock young drivers
cos dam it would scare the crap out of me

note: red queensland plates on the wrx

Its a Victorian Plate mate read FREDDO...........

Quote taken off another forum in regards to the airbag going not going off.........

QUOTE
I was speaking to a mate who works at Holden about the lack of airbag deployment.

It was my understanding that the airbag "brain" that sits in the middle of the car detects G forces and when sudden high deceleration is experienced, the brain deploys the airbag.

My mate believes that it actually takes at least 2 inputs to deploy the bag, mainly the G sensor and one possibly located in the bumper. He said that one needs to have the chassis rails deform for it to be set off, and when going under a truck it's unlikely that a bag will be deployed. Makes sense to me, and could explain why the airbag didn't go off.

What are you sueing the car yard for?

Taken off another forum in regards to the injuries sustained by the driver and cause of accident..........

QUOTE
Here is a quote from someone who actually has some facts, rather than total guesswork:-

Re the Subaru-into-truck accident, that occurred just outside our work security gate. The Subie driver is(was?) an employee here, working in our OEM auto parts paintshop. Still in hospital with 2 broken legs and head injuries. The semi was stationary kerbside with the driver catching 40 winks before coming in to unload, and the Subie driver remembers nothing. Its a presumption that mobile phone or inappropriate stereo usage in conjunction with excessive speed (60k zone) and inattention were at fault. The car was eye catching before the accident - though certainly not my cup of tea

In regards to the driver talking about the helicopter part of his story.........

QUOTE
Your right, there is an ambo there, also rescue choppers don't normally shut down at the scene, it takes to much time to start them again, it would have landed and he would have been carried to the aircraft while it was still running. Not picking his story to bits or anything as it would be hard to remember what happened after being out cold a couple of times. Lucky all is ok

In regards to the speed factor of the accident and some people claiming speed wasnt a factor.......

QUOTE
the fact that the rear wheels of the trailer are nearly off the ground and its fully laden.. the size of the skirt that stops the car going under thats bent to buggery...

My $0.02 cents. Car was rice, driver was driving too fast, hit back of truck, made bullshit story up to get out of fines/shit, THE END

god damn thats pretty bad!
besides the obvious what became of the car,the driver?
car was freddo i remember this car at car shows etc very nice it was..

and did the driver end up with any charges etc? just curious speedo reads 100 and from what has been said that'd be nearly twice the speed limit...

glad his alright though.. thumbsup.gif

Does anyone else remeber this car from auto salon a couple of years back??
Damn shame though.
Regardless of what actually happened, lets hope that this extremely lucky individual has learnt his lesson in regards to driving tired or just plain speeding. sad.gif

I never knew that speedo's stuck like that during impact. Is that a new thing? When my b/friend ran into a parked vehicle at a decent speed the speedo didn't do that!? Or does it only do it at a certain speed or something? Just curious!?
