KE70 Corolla

Same Chassis as an AE86

Most (99%) of chassis parts that fit an AE86 sprinter will bolt on

KE70, get stiff shocks, weld the diff, go out in the wet. This way, it will slide easy, and your not really going to be going fast to damage anything. THEN after a year or so of this, you should be pretty good at it.

(I do not drift, I never bought a shitbox to learn in)

yeh i was thinkin a ke70 and i luv the boxie kinda chassis it looks mad
*edit* does anyone think that a sigma turbo wud go any good or an
old datto ? *edit*

dunno about a the sigma

but an old datto 1600 or something like that would drift alright
they did use them as rally cars thumbsup.gif

Actually theres a pretty interesting Datto1600 that frequents the QLd Motorkhana Series (Holden Sporting Car Club)

It sounds awesome and goes just as well...

But I wouldn't give up my KE70 for anything smile.gif

I got my car for $900 registered

42/88 Cam (too big)
32/36 DGAV Weber Carby (needs jetting down)
Custom 4-1 Extractors & 2.25" Exhaust (too big)
VDO Monster Tacho (sold)
Speco Oil Pressure & Water Temp Guages (broken)
Boss Kit & Woodgrain Steering Wheel (sold)
14 x 7" Rims

Fairly Clean Body...

They are cheap as hell to fix if something goes wrong and you can milk a fair bit of power from the engines...

I'm guessing mines making about 110+ HP at the flywheel right now on the 4K-C (1300cc Pushrod) engine

I'm going to go down the 4A-GE path after Tax time

I have another KE70 in the shed at dad's that I am restoring at the moment...

Personally I wouldn't pay anything over $1,000 unless it had an immaculate body...

You can pick these up with decent bodies and moderate KM engines for $500 from the trading post

Quite a few of the new guys in Rollaclub own $500 KE70's

Cheap to insure... Cheap to Run, Cheap to Start Modding, Great Base to work with and build on and learn a lot about cars.

hot_hz
Post #16

Well if the Celica you are getting is a manual RA65 (2.4EFI) or RA60 (2.0 carb), I'd keep it as they are RWD and light, and would have more potential than a KE70 as they have bigger motors...more torque biggrin.gif

are teh ke70 diffs the same as the sprinters also? ( u said 99% are interchangabel)
LSD's easy to get for them (2nd and new )??

on another note. uwant a drift car, buy a crappy looking silvia.. one with a not so tidy body (this means there cheap) u dont wana good body cos ya drifitng it and u will just fuck it anywyas

u can get a average turbo silva for $5000 these days..

u will spend about that on the ke70 just to get it decent and with less then 1/2 the power

just my logical 2cents

PS is it easy to drift a car without power steering??? I have never tried it on a non-power steering car huh.gif

NISMOgemini
Post #24

just as a comparison... i got to drive Grim's rolla at skidpan on the weekend.
My car, Silvia, was easy to put sideways around the track, without a great deal of effort.
The rolla on the otherhand was a lot harder to slide aorund the track. Im my opinion, this actually provided a much better experience.
id definately rather take the rolla around again.. it was just a heap more fun.

cool.gif of course it felt better its a toyota. thumbsup.gif

Most ridiculous thing ive ever heard, its easy to get it sideways yeh ... FOR ABOUT 2 SECONDS. you need the weight in the rear to hold the car sideways, utes suck for drifting.

obviosuly never driven a 2wd hilux for any amount of time.

NISMOgemini
Post #31

utes slide way beter thumbsup.gif

lighter weight in the rear means less unprodicted actions of the ass end

Get a sprinter forget all the bullshit they arent cheap they are. Try to find one with a 4age in it already as it will save you some hassles. A rough indication of $$$$ available will determine to most people what you can and cant buy

mad shit but i think im nearly convinced that i wanna get a ke70 but n e ideas r still good for thought

for the price of a sprinta get a silvia tongue.gif

i would rather the sprintas styling (looks way better) but for the "low budget" the silvia will have more balls up front

Yeah silvia will have heaps more imeadiate potential.

One thing that pisses me off is since drifting became popular sprinter prices have risen, I used to see clean sprinters around for 2-3000, now I see some stocko asking for 3-4000???? blink.gif

p/s why is this in the electrical/audio section????
