30kg is the difference between a 13 sec and 14 sec pass?

tomato?

well maybe if u ran a 13.99 30k more might chuck u in2 the 14's but it would really make fuck all difference

what cars did the fj20 come out in?

i like the sr and the ca the same, but i guess the sr would be quicker.

The FJ20ET came in the DR30 Skyline, S12 SILVIA and a couple of others that are too rare to be worth a mention. biggrin.gif have a look at http://www.fj20.com thumbsup.gif

actually good to see that people accept the ca is a stronger motor over the ca, rather than taking the Neesarrn es ar twenty bullshit from Fast and flurecent...

im not going to argue with physics.... cast iron is stronger than aluminium alloy....

but what do the japanese use for drift, drag, and circuit racing when it comes to nissan engines and tight fit engine bays???

Hey i reckon nissan make a damn good thing and there is no point in saying which one is best because it all depends on what your searching for...

some engines are better than others for different applications...

weight makes more difference than u think

30kg may not sound like much but it is.

100kg is approx half a second (which is alot in drag racing) over the 1/4 between a high 14sec pass and a low 14sec pass.

i know which one id like!

Who has an CA18 making 300+rwhp with the standard internals? I know of a few SR20's making this sort of power with no internal mod's and are still in one piece. I konw of a few FJ20's making over 350+rwhp and one making 400+rwhp with standard internals. biggrin.gif

s13viper
Post #48

well im only 65hp off that?? and its held up fine!!!!

totally stock auto box as well, no problems!

@fantasy

65rwhp is a lot when your talking about 235rwhp vs 300rwhp. burnout.gif

s13viper
Post #50

true, anyone with a CA thats makes over 250whp would do internals just to be safe

i mean it is only a 1.8L that gets revved very hard!!!!

i would rather take an extra 30kgs and have a stronger engine, you can always get rid of weight in other areas

Therefor you would be better off with an SR or FJ, even considering the extra weight. blink.gif

thats true, but i was just saying that weight does effect things more than u think!

correction

100kg is 1 tenth of a second

so 30kg is .03seconds slower

sr20 det 4 sure with late models vvti and blla bearing stock turbos hell yea bugger the fj id rather a ca over it

OPM
Post #57

fj as it has the cast iron block and better flowing heads, sr20 is all alloy so is suspectable to fault and the heads are really ummm well bad.

wellll it all depends on which bracket ur goin in

to get a 3tenths sec diff in a 14sec car is easy!

to get 3 tenths diff in a 10sec car, is hard, lol

so u cant really say exactly how much weight effects things as the curve is Exponential!

At this point we have 12 votes for the FJ20ET, 3 votes for the SR20DET and 3 votes for the CA18DET. So that makes the FJ20ET the champ thumbsup.gif for now and the SR20DET and CA18DET equal. But what would hapen if we added the RB20DET in to this comparison ohmy.gif . I think the FJ20ET would still come out on top tongue.gif but I don't know how the other three would go. rolleyes.gif

i wouldnt touch a rb20 with a 30 foot electrafied dildo wraped in barb wire.. there shit.. i would take a sr over one any day of the week

I know of an internally stock SR20DET pushing over 400RWHP........ What can a CA do?

Always makes me laugh the old CA Vs SR debate..... half the people that argue have never even played with either engines, or stretched the boundries.... they just arge for what they have in their car (with their mild ass upgrades smile.gif)

My choice would be,

SR20DET - (RNN14 gtir variant) as its the strongest and best... also the newest.
FJ20ET - Bulletproof, but gettin a bit long in the tooth.
CA18DET - Never really impressed me, same mods to an SR20 will net so much more power (as seen on my friends dyno (TRP))

have had nothign to do with ca so i got nothgin against em but i got nothign for them either

Good to hear. The ca imo is lacking too much torque and size to make it a choice for a serious buildup. I don't understand why people go on about the iron vs alloy block, i don't know when the last time i heard of someone cracking their block was unless its making some pretty serious power. I haven't heard of any stock ca internals lasting past 210rwkw (i guess not a lot of people try either) but heaps of people have made 270rwkw+ with stock sr internals, no block troubles.

From my experiences the rb20 shits all over the ca in power, torque and responsiveness to mods. 300rwhp is a piece of piss and very cheap to do.
