hi ppl police video taped a friend lastnight they were in town and took off quick from the side of the road. he hit about 80kph in a 60 zone (i think it is) it looked as if they had a radar as well as the camera so now my question is; what should he expect from the cops now? and how long do thay have to do something about it? -------------------- |

however if they got him doing that on more than one occasion then they can say that he could have been conducting "time trials" and that comes under the hooning law... |

exactly what i was going to say chris sorry turbostyler, but the hoon laws pretty much cover anything to do with driving a car and like chris said, officer discretion, fair enough it might not hold up in court, but that still doesnt stop the car from being impounded, and him having to pay the fees etc etc |

That happened to me awhile ago... i was on new for that hoon special.. i'm the one in the black skyline that they showed.. i was drivin on the free way when 5 guys in a cordia (an old one) was revin at me trying to drag them...they keep doing for a while, so i got p[issed off and dragged them.. a month latter i saw myself on TV on the hoon special.. They wre in that CORDIA they had a camera on me and a camera on their speedo so they can tell how fast i was going. 1 week later after they showed i on tv they rang me and meet up with me and gave me a $700 fine and 6 months lost of licence. |

Say, if you drive past a copper (opposite direction) sppeding, they have no way of prooving you were speeding do they? |

SLY - you must get sick of seeing your car every week when they have a "new hoon special" on today tonight lol... you just sit there and go err same footage again, least my car looks good |

Sup, i'm new to this, but i've been reading your convo and i'd like to offer a bit of advice...these days the cops can pretty much get you for anything when it comes to cars. they have all these new laws and legislations and it's a real piss off. i work at a solicitors office and you'd be surprised how many clients come through the door for charges involving cars etc. the cops make there money from booking those with interests in cars. they don't make money from catching the f-heads who break into our cars (and smash my window on my new civic!!!!) or those dirty bastards who get off on raping girls etc. |

i cant believe this. SO the pigs caught you on video tape. So what, they cant proove your speed, or anything, only that it was you. Just deny everything and admit nothing. Thats IF they turn up. They were probably filming everyone that night, and didnt really catch you doing enough, and continued filming other cars. Dont worry about it. And the speed radar if they caught you, is not admissable in court as it wasnt issued to you on the spot. It could be produced in court, and be ANYONES radar readout. Pfft. |
