evo201: im not goin to flame you, everyone has a right to an opinion, BUT i do standby my comment, we ARE all criminals (as in the meaning of the word...breaking the law)

whether it be merging without indicating (that an offence)
doing 70 in a 60 zone (only have to do it once, its STILL an offence)

we ALL break some pedantic law at some point almost daily in our lives..........what im tryin to say is that we need to deal with that and stand up and be responsible for our actions when or if, we are apprehended for said offence.

i think you may have misunderstood what i was saying.

and RTR................thats just the law bud.....silly rule i agree as well......but thats the law. once again OFFICER DISCRETION.

I am resonably certain every time Pol-Air or any emergency service helicopter goes up in the air it costs between $15,000-$30,000. I will endevour to find out today a more precise figure.

I have no problem in Police cracking down on the idiots doing the wrong thing, and I agree with Chris 200%. We are all criminals at some point in time, wether it be intentional or not. My only grizzle is the use of a helicopter for such an operation if my figures are anywhere near correct above and like I said I am resonably sure they are. That is a lot of tax payers money to be wasted. However then again I guess they only have to seize one or two cars that are then forfeited to the crown and they have made that money back again haven't they.

Ummmm Pat it's not a good idea to ask a Police Officer if you can soil his hat no. It is perfectly legal as long as there are no facilities around and you make a very resonable attempt to cover yourself up to releive yourself in a public place. It's one of the oldest laws in the country.

couldnt agree more..

also rick(KOTCJ) your right imagine how much it costs to run the helicopter not only that but the amount of police they use on such operations etc, really for the amount of cars they give fines to it may cover the costs, but at the same time we have court cases/appeals etc where prosecution again waste more money..

really for the amount of cars they are talking about all it would of taken was a defect station and some hwy patrol cars to block exits outta the area, not half os sydneys police force.. thumbsup.gif cops are tops thumbsup.gif

i think the term "criminal" is only applicable if you have been convicted of a crime! not for simply skirting the law on occasion without getting caught.

some people don't get their taxes in on time, which is a fineable offense, but that doesn't necessairily make them criminals.

QUOTE (-ben- @ Mar 16 2004, 12:40 PM)
they wont spend the money on doing it. they shouldnt have to. thats why we have shows so u can act like an idiot.

thats like blaming the government for people raping people cos the government doesnt legalise brothels.

no matter how ppl look at it. its still an offence and shouldnt be commited.

no excuse!

the government doesn't legalise brothels to stop people getting raped, they legalise brothels so that the business's have to be registered and therefore taxed. Purely revenue raising.

The only "up" side of legalising brothels for the community is the protection of the prostitutes under OH&S legislation and workcover.

Conspiracy theory #1:
Governments are authorising the targeting of Hoons because they know the more convictions and reports the effect it will have on insurance (make it rise) and therefore they will receive more money in tax on insurance policies!

from what i see it is very high publicity and gives the cops some good pr (depending on which side your on) , it won't do anything to the racing scene maybe slow it down for a week or two but it will not be stamped out by stunts like this. the act of selling anothers goods after confiscating it will be a big civil right problem (i know its the law but it also wrong)so expect to see it fought in court by a number of people.... watch this space guy/girls because it could be u next (car confiscated because of bald tyres ect) ohmy.gif angry.gif angry.gif angry.gif

Like mentioend before and if u read the thread its was NSW not qqld cops also like i mentioned before why would u have uniform cops investigating a missing person case when u have detetctives.GOD SOME of u ppl need to learn how to read.

POLICE FORCE HAVE DIFFERENT BRANCHS.

No doubt the ones who cracked down on the hoons would have mainly been traffic branch cops. rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif

backup haha yeh i know about ankatell and naval base etc, I've laid enough strips there myself biggrin.gif

But end of day with a strip locally available the appeal of going out just to do burnouts/race on the streets isnt as strong as it used to be.

read through a few more posts after my above 1....

I agree about the license shouldn't be classed as a privelidge.. after all who invented the motorcar and pioneered it? the people not the government. But that is something that others will dispute no doubt.

As for leaving the drags.. I have found this to be a somewhat sore point. More not because of the people(suprisingly a large number of them behave on the way there and back), but more the police. Several times there have been cases of a defect station being setup on the road that leads to the motorplex and vehicles who are chosing to go race there in a safe environment are being targetted and defected. This turns off a fair few people who would otherwise go race there, good public relations there eh.

It is so bizzare.. noone can figure it out... the typical group of ppl that meet at the BWCP are the quiet ppl who jsut go to look at the cars and wonder around.. no entry fee. the problem is the young gimps who rock up with alcohol in a public place they get rowdy and it draws unwanted attention. everyone can see what is happening they just choose to ignore it and whinge and spoil it for the ppl who are there who are responsible. i have a feeling they will close the espy tho for those who do the sunday laps. there are more and more cops there and it is causing too much traffic...

what do u think?

k i live not 5min from willowbank raceway and i go there to have my fun (circuit , drag and autocross)but i still get out and go to bwcp and have a look and talk . now when a police officer drives past in a marked car an is filming us with a video camera , notably number plates it stinks of discrimination and the fact that it often gets closed off and raided when nothing is happening (no idiots that night), the fact it cleans up the bad modders and gets rid of the unsafe cars is a bonus in my opinion , but when they start going to the point of getting people for stereo systems and pod filters (never seen a pod filter explode yet) is another matter.

onlookers pushed the rear of the vehicle(as you do!!!) to get the already spinning wheels,..to spin!! sounds like a cop wrote this report. same as the baldy tyres, a result of doing burnouts???????? NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yes you are right there are different parts of the police force
and yes detectives are the ones who investigate things like that....
but a task force is made up of detectives and uniforms and we have kids missing and gang land murders happening all the time and they focus that much attention on cars?

really how many people have been killed down south with all the gang murders? and then we have a young child missing!

all the states police forces have the ability to work together and i would much rather they used 3 cops to break up the street meet and put together a task force to stop the killings or find a missing child

but what does it matter what i think i just vote and pay tax just like everyone else on this site.

watched a thing on abc last night about a thing called hacktivism , basically its all about people protesting by going to web sites (nsw police) and giving it so much work that it crashes or they break in and change the site to send a message to web browsers. i thought that next time they have a protest we could all join in and send a msg to the world . wacko.gif

how does a pod filter explode? its just an air filter? someone fill me in?

apparentlly the oil coated ones (for better filtration) can catch fire under curtain circumstances, hence why they must be in a sealed enclosure, the only exposed pods alowed are the dry type.
