Im thinking of puttin a nitrous system on to me commy ute.
Its a VR V8
Which brand do all of you use/recomend?
Im thinking Edelbrock Nitrous Systems
Direct Port?
What kind of other mods need to be done to make it safe/reliable?
Also i reliase that nitrous is illegal to have fitted to your vehicle.
Is there any way around this?
Would it also be possibe to hide the Lines and Foggers from the cops so as not to draw attention?

No thats not my car,
Wish it was though

Just about the illegal deal. hiding the line would be difficult, and if u have direct prot im firley sure u cant see the foggers anyways as there more like fuel injectors. with your dry and wet shot though it wouldnt really be possible to hide them unless u had most of your carby(s) under some sort of cover.

brand I have no idea.

as long as you dont have blue lines in your engine bay, clearly visable hoses and stickers on fittings that clearing state brands of Nitrous i doubt the coppers will notcie.

i second what hi lux said, i'm assuming most coppers won't be too technically minded to be able to see nitrous hooked up if you do it subtly.

On the legalities side, depending on where you are you can have lines hooked up, but no bottle in the car. I think thats only in NSW as HOON who is on this site got done for having lines hooked up with no bottle. Check with your local authority. Also take the details of the person you talk to just incase, so you can have some kind of backup...

From what I read a while ago, you can have NOTHING AT ALL related to the n2o system on your car, if you do, they can basically tow it. They might have relaxed the laws a little since, Im not sure tho.

Talk to hardcore racing components at slacks creek about hooking up nitrous oxide to your "commy ute"...

They have been doing it the most recently and yeild excellent results.

I am 99% sure they would hook u up with a wet nitrous system offered from zex, which is TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) triggered. This means when you put your foot flat to the floor it will provide you with the Nitrous hit.

Nitrous Express? Oznos?
Just some other brands to consider

MOTORS
Post #19

ok edelbrock makes NOS they just use a different name for marketin. but Nitrouse express is all anybody in the states use. they may have different bottles in their car but all the injection components are nitrouse express. they are not so big in australia since they have just acquired a wholesaler. they are a little more expensive but if you want the best go nitrouse express

nitrous express is what madden sells. he imports it and adds his sticker to them so dont be fooled.

i have amadden kit on me hq just 100hp jets, took it from 12.9 to 11.47 with the wheels up. its good shit but dont ever expect that to happen from ya commy

Yeah I plan to have Nitrous and hide it in my car which will be on the road in a few weeks. I'm not even gonna say which car because there's probably a coppa reading this thread anyway!

Contrary to my 1st post in this thread on the ZEX range of systems it has become apparent to me that there are a few inherit problems with them after taking to a few mates that run them, initially they were happy but their thoughts have changed. (8 sec WRX wagon & VU Gen III Ute).

Stick with the NOS or NX brand. (though my NOS system using Ausnos solenoids has been faultless)

I'd agree there psi999 , i've heard a few things about the ZEX system, a few things also about the hardware for the N.O.S system aswell.

I've seen more than a few cases where people use all the Nitrous Express hardware, but an NOS brand bottle - best hardware with a cheap bottle basically. If you want a nitrous kit for your VR ute, then i would suggest the NX stuff mate. My mechanic installed a 75hp NX kit onto a VS ute and it picked up a dyno proven 76hp extra at the tyres - something the NOS kits dont. Don't quote me, but i believe he offers somewhat a guarantee that it will make the power rating extra at the wheels or they will give you the option to remove it and get your money back.

Anyways thats my spiel, if you want to chat about the Nitrous Express system, feel free to give Autotech a call on 07 4632 1999 and ask to speak to Peter.

NOS, Edelbrock & Zex are the kits to go for. And all in stock.. wink.gif thumbsup.gif

i like the way that the zex system is setup, especially since you can get a control unit to control your fuel and nos solinoids..

they have some very good idears but im not to sure on how reliable they are. and reliability is the main factor when fitting nos (well thats what i think).

my 2 cents!
