Pffff.... sorry if this has been said b4 but if u think about it if you put 30 litres in your car and are saving say 4c a litre you are saving yourself $1.20

Big deal!

Not worth the extra effort to find a Shell in my opinion.

And if I do go to a Shell, as if you could be bothered to keep your receipt to save a dollar.

My 2 cents ( should I say 4 cents)

So True! Whenever i go to a Plus Petrol, i think cool i'll use my receipt. Then i can't find the bloody thing and have to pay full price anyway. The service station attendants look at you funny when you don't have a receipt. laugh.gif laugh.gif

i agree 4c a litre doesnt equate to much when u fill up, but say u have a 50L tank, thats a $2 saving, not much. but say u fill up every week for a year, thats $104 saving. not much but if you can get something for free, why not.

Heheeh they are probably used to people losing their receipts.

Nah I dont really care what discount there is a fuel.. good fuel is good fuel and if I have to pay an extra 4 cents *big whoop* to get the best fuel (BP!), then Im sure I dont mind putting myself out a little wink.gif After all, I would only buy myself a banana paddlepop with the left over coins anyways hehehe! thumbsup.gif

maybe with the added competition from coles/shell now, woolies might increase the discount?? maybe even 5c a litre biggrin.gif

Well it has to be better quality fuel then the the 'Petrol Plus" Woolworths option. The Petrol Plus stores put out weekly contracts for the supply of fuel and the cheapest wins. I have been told this form a high up source in Woolworths. Apparently alot of the time the fuel sold at Petrol Plus is fuel that has been accidently mixed together at a servo and taken back to the refinery for seperation, hence the reason for the cheapness dry.gif . No wonder from the reports I have had from friends that fill up at Petrol Plus outlets their cars run sick wacko.gif

I'll take my Optimax from Sheel/Coles anyday! smile.gif

the BP in Macksville (near Coffs Harbour NSW) got done a few years ago for putting additives in their fuel to make it go further. Really messed up some cars in town, so i am still really wary of BP. Although it is always BP or Shell for the S15, i just put whatever in my Echo.

i work at matilda servo... and in there area there is a mobil, bp, ampol and a woolies that we directly compete with... when the woolies was built it made fuck all difference to the amount of fuel that we sell at my servo.... the pricing at my servo has also changed... rather than having a set 6 cent/litre gap between premium and unleaded now the higher the price of fuel the closer the gap between the two... for example on friday.. the price of premium and unleaded was exactly the same.. but as the price of unleaded drops the price of premium will stay untill there is a 5c gap between them.. im quite sure that this is the go for all matilda servos now was well.

not trying to plug my work at all either... infact dont come to my work cause then i wll actually have to do some work

Don't use IFS, they put really bad stuff in their fuel and it has stuffed up so many motors that I know of. Just a warning guys. wink.gif

hey guys it might be cheap fuel, now, but in 2 or 3 years when the greedy supermarket (bastards) have SCREWED most of the small servos out of business & they have almost total control of the fuel industry like they have the food industry,so they can rip even more of ur weekly pay packet, the prices will then SKYROCKET & the quality will be sh## just like theyve done to the food industry, just like banks THEY ARE OUT OF CONTROL & the govt is powerless to do anything, & say what u like but thats the reality
just look what these same BIG CORPS have done to the dairy farmers, fruit & veg industries, just on principle i wont buy the fuel, THEY ARE HELL BENT ON DESTROYING SMALL OPERATORS angry.gif

THE SLOGAN OF THESE BIG ?#** SHOULD BE "THE NEED FOR GREED"

Great, so now we can expect shell to run out of optimax more often now that they will have extra customers, what a bonus. dry.gif Doesnt effect me as i just sold my car laugh.gif

Um Basically all Shell has done is gone into a joint venture with Coles to sell budget fuel to loyal customers similar to the scheme offered by Woolies with their Plus Petrol Scheme.

Because Coles couldn't afford to set up individual fuel stations they approached Shell.

The Fuel is Still the same it's just the volume sales which are adjusted.

Shell has the bonus of having access to more customers through the scheme and Coles has the bonus of being able to offer a competitive offer to rival woolies. So everybody wins.

Coles hasn't bought out Shell or vice versa, they are just in a joint Venture.

Correct me if Im wrong here, but I think you have incorrect Information about this Coles Shell Deal. Coles has purchased the leases for all the company owned Shell Service Stations, rebranded them as Coles Express and is running them under a name called Eureka Operations P/L, which is a Coles Myer Company.

I dont think it had anything to do with them being able to "afford" to set up service stations, Id say they couldnt catch up fast enough, as Woolworths already had 280 of its own Plus Petrol outlets before Coles had a single one operating.

It is not a joint venture. Coles has purchased the Service Stations, and is being supplied by Shell Australia with petrol products.

Once again I think you have incorrect information. The fuel is no cheaper than anywhere else. Sure there may be a cent or two difference, but if you dont have a docket, you pay FULL PUMP PRICE.

Why make accusations such as the fuel being watered down? If youre going to do such, and you expect us to beleive you, then lay your cards on the table, and name your source.

I have long been a beleiver that if its discounted, then people become suspicious. The reality is , it isnt discounted unless you spend 30 bucks in a supermarket. Do you really think Woolworths could sell 50 Million litres a week of dodgy " mixed then taken back for seperation" fuel to the Australian Public? Please , lets be realistic here?

Please name your sources, show us some lab results from your freinds cars going wacko....fuel tests, whatever....?

I read this whole topic and the only person that knows whats going to happen is raceline!

Simply, everyone will start filling up at Coles/Shell and Woolies, and the other servos will not be able to compete and will go broke and shut up shop.

Then the two grocery giants will have total domination of the market, and as everyone needs fuel the bastards will charge whatever they like for the stuff and people will have to pay it!

Saying that though i only use Shell in both my cars, and as the only two Shell servos in town are under Coles control now i used my Coles docket yesterday and because i was one of the first 25 customers after 10am in Goonellabah i got $48 worth of free fuel in the old VK! tongue.gif
Might make the move to another servo for the shitter from now on though, just to do my bit to keep the market alive, and save the Coles dockets for the Torana on weekends. smile.gif

15exn, man the BASTARDS HAVE GOT U FOOLED thats how the 2 big supermarket giants have planned it , they suck most ppl in with discounts until theyve got market monoply then BAM, when all the small servos have gone bust they put the price to $1.50L
THIS IS THEIR LONG TERM MARKETING PLAN FOR AUST if u need proof just take a look at how many small grocery stores are left ,sweet f a, now guess why

coles down here (victoria) has taken over coles for about a year now.. and its great.. still have the shell optimax.. etc... and yeah it has given safeway(woolworhts) ome competition with thier price reductions with dockets.... but nah theres nothing wrong with it..
just makes BP look lonely now tongue.gif

Thats incorrect. Woolworths is involved in a joint venture with Caltex. Caltex still runs their own sites, with their own staff, and using Caltex fuel, they just honour Woolworths dockets. Caltex still owns all the "Calstores". Woolworths is not taking them over, it is merely a co-branded fuel offer.
