Well hello everyone. Almost had my car stolen last night. Here's the story: Woke up this mornin at 6am to go to work and i went to unlock my car and noticed that it was already unlocked. But i knew i had locked it the night before. So i opened the car and immediately saw wires coming from where my HEAD UNIT should have been. Cracking the shits i realised that they had also taken my UHF and my cd case with a couple of hundred dollars worth of cd's, and some spare change I had lying around. I then noticed that my ignition had been turned, and on closer inspection i noticed a small bit of key stuck inside. So they had snapped their key (which had to be a vl key or similar) trying to turn the steering wheel lock off (I put that lock on when eva i get out of the car). So if it wasnt for this steering wheel lock i had on, i probably wouldnt have a car right now. Due to this key in my ignition i cant move my car until i get the bitch out. Does anyone know what the best method would be to get this key out? Also if so can anyone help me as i havent looked into the steering wheel side of things and am unaware of how to do it yet. So can i ask everyone to keep an eye/ear out for a Sony head unit (picture attached, its not very clear but gives you an idea) and a small uniden ufh floating around. Cheers Sean Also, i would advise everyone to use that little magic steering wheel lock when ever you are not in the car. IT SAVED MINE!!!! ___________________________________________________________________ 17 January 2003 - Well, i finally got the key out of the igniton barrel yesterday. But will still need to get a new barrel, as they pretty much fuked it up. The whole thing moves about and shit. So its not good at all. The key was actually a vl key. Now i have come across a dilemma. As they broke my bonnet release, i now have no control over opening my bonnet. I was wondering if there was anyway possible to open my bonnet??? And is there any way of fixing the bonnet release??? The cable is broken, and is now not in the car at all??? PLEASE HELP!!! -------------------- ---> Cheap GUARD Rolling - PM for Details <--- |

Wouldn't you like to catch someone in the act of trying to steal your car or contents. I would. |

there is alot of this going on, the guy across the road from me owns a black tx3. on tuesday night it got broken into, they smashed the driverside window, took all his gauges, stezza, $2500 of golf clubs and tried to take his front mount. i dont know what these low lifes are up too, but i hope karma cumes and bites them on the arse very soon. |

Everyone knows you can open the lock of a vl with a turtles back foot, its that easy. But from what ive been told there are only a limited amount of keys made for any car from say the VL backwards. So obviously they just put in their vl or similar key into the door unlocked it and then tried again with the ignition. I do have 2 different keys (one for door and one for ignition, so that helps also) |

I dont think who eva did it was very smart (probably not trying to steal a vl anyway). Because when they took the head unit out they musten have known what RC Cables are and where they end up. The first thing i did when i realised the stezza was gone, was check my boot for my 2 10inch puppies and amp. But lukily they were there. Hopefully i can get all or some of it back on insurance, if not ill have to sit down and cry for a little while hoping things get better. |

there was actually a thread posted a while back with a link to a thief that explained methods of breaking into cars in graphic detail so i guess some of us already know the basics of that kinda shit. bad luck about the head unit man, hopefully insurance will save you from a large cash outlay ![]() |

Ok, just went and had a look at the car. Started to take the steering wheel off, but cant get it off the big bolt (dont wanna snap it off). But for some reason i went to open the bonnet and noticed that they have brocken my bonnet release some how. The small cable has some how come off and has been stretched. So i dont know what the deal there is either. |
