my car's kit was a factory option, so even though I added it onto the vehicle years down the track, the only thing I had to do was when I changed the differential to a ford 9", I was required to use billet axles.

could have ran the standard diff /except that it wouldn't have handled the power.

and yes, the engineer did pull the axles out and inspect them prior to issuing his certification.

In the old rules I believe the only way to increase track to to change the rear axle like you did. Only for non IRS cars though.

Here is my situatuion>

I saw and engineer 18 months back and he was more than happy to comply a kit I wanted to make for my car.
Fast forward 18 months and a shitload of money and time, I try call engineer but cannot get a hold of him. I call a more local engineer and he says no, cannot increase the track width ouside NCOP.
Finally got hold of the original engineer and told him what others had said. He claimed they were all full of it, NCOP was a guideline. He said you could increase track through wheel offset but not through suspension modifiaction..
I then got a hold of a senior inspection officer for TMR and had a good chat with him. He was very helpful but in the end he said even if my car is modplated for it, If it ever ends up over the pits they cannot pass it. Called the engineer back and told him this and he backflipped and said "if thats the rules, then thats the rules"

So Im a bit gutted at the moment after going about things the right way and still getting screwed over.

So im curious how people with widebody cars in qld get around this?
Is there a way to get it modplated?
Do you just try your luck and when you get pinned, cop the fine and the points and throw stockers on it when it goes over the pits?

Again any advice will be helpful.

what's the maximum size factory wheel available on your model of vehicle / diameter, width, including any factory specials or overseas released vehicle on the same platform / available in other markets etc.

you need hard data on that to take to your engineer, and if the suspension is the same as fitted on your vehicle. there has to be a way around it even if it means you need to register your vehicle under a different class, ICV etc (iirc)

what type of car are we talking about? someone may be able to help you if you'd post up more details on the vehicle in question.
