as for weight per tonne, they go by factory figures, which they would have on record. for you to say something different to what they use as a guideline isn't going to work.

That's incorrect. They amended it, to allow to application to drive a "moderately powered" turbocharged vehicle with a power to weight ratio nor exceeding 125kw/tonne.

The 13B RX7 falls into the "high powered" category and no exemption will be granted on these grounds.

Edit: The FD RX7 EASILY makes over 150kw/tonne from factory in all specs and trims.

Thanks for your help guys. Still a little : / about it.

A few of my mates got exemptions by supplying dono readings and weight of car.

I have the ability to make the car weight more then it is and can get the readings under the 125 kw. (Obviously not legit) but on paper.

So I'm pretty sure that you can get exemptions by supplying papers like those. Just this cc' are fling me over.

1. A "Dino" (its dyno btw) measures power at the wheels, unless you plan to remove the motor from the car.
2. Its based on the stock power at the motor. A dyno figure will be at the wheels and thus lower anyways.
3. Even if they did accept a dyno sheet it can be so easily manulipulated it isnt funny. You could get it to read just about anything.
4. Why would they accept a weight you have printed out? Wouldn't every p plater just fill their boot with a few blocks of steel before getting bazza at the dump to weigh her and bypass the whole system.

I have a modified FD and can legally drive it.. washed it and took it for a strap last weekend.

Had heaps of fun, met some great people and waved at a copper while sitting at the lights.

I can still smell the 2 stroke.

As mentioned previously several times, don't bother trying to work around the system, work offshore or remote so the P plate times passes quickly and you will earn some serious coin to get the car you really want, instead of a raped FD and all the legal hassles

It was mentioned your insurance will be invalidated.... let me put some numbers your way, hitting an expensive car isnt the only thing that could be costly.

Hit a truck, you're up for big dollars in repair - especially if the trucks insurer decides to chase you for loss of earnings for while that vehicle is off the road

Hit a powerpole with a transformer on it, at last check you're up for around $250k... even more if its on a guaranteed supply circuit where there is flowon costs for loss of supply

Why do you think a lot of policies will cover $20,000,000.00 of legal liability? Its for these reasons. You got $20mil in the bank to cover your arse when you're playing with $20k toys? I highly doubt it!

my mate got exemption for his rx7. But turns out when he told the pizza boy "to go home" out racing one night. the pizza boy called the pigs and all sorts of stuff went down.
