Just so people are aware, there were parking changes in the city as of Tuesday 15th Jan. Parking times have been inreased to 10pm at night. As a friend of mine works in the city, he saw a large number of ticketies providing goodies to people who were unaware of the change occuring while being parked in their spots. |

You don't have any rights. What have you done? I am currently renting in share accommodation and looking to move out. My name is not on the lease and I have not signed any agreements. The person I am sharing the accommodation with is the person whose name is on the lease. She has said that I need to have the carpet in my bedroom professionally cleaned before I move out/ will not get my security deposit back if I do not have the carpet professionally cleaned. (The carpet is in the exact same condition as to when I moved in except general wear and tear). When I moved into the premises I paid 4 weeks rent for bond and 2 weeks in advance, following this my rent was paid weekly with electricity included in the rent. I am just trying to find out: 1- How much notice do I need to give before I leave. 2- Do I need to have the floor in my bedroom professionally cleaned upon moving out (Name is not on the lease and did not sign any agreement stating that I have to) |

This is where it gets interesting. First of all, if she took "bond" off you, she has to lodge that with the RTA for it to be legit. Second of all, if you didn't sign shit, then you are not liable for shit. However.... It goes both ways... She can just lock the door, change the lock and not let you in at all with zero notice, so be careful, anything could happen. She is female. Unfortunatly, she has the upper hand, she has 6 weeks of rent that if you want 4 of it back, you need to clean the carpet. Unless you think you can swing not paying rent for a while to make it even. For the sake of getting one room cleaned... i'd just get it done and get ya cash back. Will ask if the bond was lodged with the RTA- thanks for the tip. So I do not need to give a certain amount of notice before leaving? From what I can gather on the RTA website I have to give 7 days. There is however more to the story. I was originally planning on moving out at the end of this month and told them so in advance. Last week they were given a notice by the owner stating that they must vacate the premises by 26th of Feb as the property has been sold at auction. In turn do I need to pay 1/3 (3 housemates altogether) of the total cost to have the carpet professionally cleaned or just have the room I was paying rent for professionally cleaned given that I am moving out before they have to vacate the premises - given they will still continue to live in the apartment for a couple of weeks after I have moved out. Thanks for the help Twincam. I do appreciate it. |

That was included when I said everything I have.... Currently owed about 500 bucks from them. But I dont care about the f'king money. Money is money, it comes and goes. Im just sick of feeling f'king used. Don't stress to much about it dude. A year from now you will look back and wonder why you gave a shit. Live life, be happy. If someone makes your life miserable then block them out and move on. |
