Hi Guys N Gals, due to overwhelming complaints about cruises i have written up this BRIEF but easy to follow guide to running a GOOD cruise. A good cruise is one where NO cars are lost, where NOONE feels left out, and is usually talked about for a few weeks after. And also one where numerous people arent hassled by officers of the law. I will leave this topic open to discussion and will edit my ORIGINAL post if anyone has points or tips i left out. ANY crap i see posted here will result in 14 day mod reviews and possible banning. This is not an EXACT way to run a cruise, juts a few helpful hints in edited form. Really 99% of it is just COMMONSENSE. But please read this if you plan on attending anycruises. If i start getn complaints about people running cruises posted on these boards and NOT following these rules, the next time they try to organize one, it will end up being removed. Harsh, but fair to the people who go expecting a good time. If anyone has any questions or wish to comment in a negative light, feel free to PM me. Im always interested to hear valid points. Okay.......onto the General Rundown. 1/ When organising a cruise GIVE AS MUCH INFORMATION as possible. This applies to the original post, and any decent cruise will have an itinery and have had a scout run done. Post ALL relevant information inthe original post, and go from there. (I realise some are made on the day, thats fine, but see points 2 and 3 if that is the case) 2/ Have ONE clear CRUISE LEADER and 2 or 3 helpers in other cars. The cruise leader should ALWAYS lead and be VERY familiar with the route being taken, and his/her helpers should be placed ONE in the middle of the pack, another at the rear. ALL cruise leaders and helpers should be in contact via UHF. If there is a problem it is easily sorted then. A crusie leader should generally be outspoken and not shy in pullin people together.......or chasing off after people. A quiet and shy cruise leader spells disaster. 3/ As above.....TRY to have as many UHF radios as POSSIBLE! The Boostcruising channel used for cruises is 16......but when you start at the original destination then a different channel can be decided. When on the cruise and radios are being used, please talk as much as u like, but when someone starts broadcasting important information, dont shout them down with crap. Take time to rememeber who has spent their free time organising said cruise and respect that. 4/ Boys will be Boys and Girls will be Girls on these cruises, do not fear the odd burnout, or crazy driving, its not condoned in the slightest, however, as long as YOU YOURSELF arent the one commiting the heinous offence then LET IT GO. EVERYONE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN ACTIONS. If it bothers you, at the next stop, by all means go up and have a chat with said offender......more often than not, its not a planned thing......hence the saying a "brain fade".... 5/ Slow cars should generally stick to the rear.......OR people who wish to drive a lil slower........that way the more energetic folk can have more room to move up the front. IF YOU KNOW YOUR LIMITS STICK TO THEM. Dont try and cut fully sik drifts in a clapped out ol escort or something.....hell.....i cant drift....so i dont try! LOL But as i said, if u think u are a lil slower, or have people sittn on ya ass alot.....MOVE OVER....let em thru......we are all there for fun. Nothing worse than cryin how crap ya day was because the person infront didnt think to move over. I realise its not ALWAYS possible......but consider it after each stop eh? 6/ There should ALWAYS be several stops on a cruise so people can regroup and have potty stops and what not! Make sure your CRUISE LEADER defines these at the START of the cruise. They are usually entailed in the INTINERY. Servos are always a good one, due to food, toilets and fuel. Always have at least ONE servo stop during a cruise. ALWAYS. They usually make the best meeting points as well. 7/ RESPECT OTHERS. Most people fob this idea off......not so.....i have been on may cruises where i knew NO ONE, and by the end of it all, had made some great friends. Try not to be shy, go up and comment on a persons car, or large volumes of doof! Pop ya bonnet, that always gets people comin over for a chat. Dont be shy to introduce yaself....but on the road and at the meeting points, respect each other a bit and it will go a long way to makin the day an enjoyable event. Might even pick up a few tips for more HP or DOOOOOOOF! 8/ RESPECT THE PUBLIC. When you are driving in a congregated area with ALOT of public traffic.....DONT BE A FOOL. TAKE IT EASY. anyone who acts in a manor other than that, should be spoken to by the cruise leader at the next stop, and in a severe case scenerio be REMOVED from the cruise group. or at the least asked to leave. I realise this may be hard to achieve, but think about it, this is YOUR cruise, and if people act like FOOLS when the public are all about.....the police will soon pull ya cruise to bits. do you really want that? 9/ I gotta say it again......INFORMATION, INFORMATION,INFORMATION. and a HELL of a lot of planning makes a good cruise. Allow for the amount of cars you think will be attending and in city cruises it is VERY hard to keep as a group so have a LOT of stop off points. Plan your cruise around the LOCATION......mountain runs vary a hell of a lot to city cruises, so take the time to compensate! 10/ and FINALLY.....ENJOY YOURSELF. These things are ment to be fun, and really think about it, its only your choice to have fun or not. but bear in mind the above advice.......TIME AND PLACE.....and RESPECT. Most of all take care and be SAFE. THANKYOU for taking the time to read this and I hope i have helped even just a few people plan fun and exciting cruises. CHRIS. |

well said, that's exactly the things s13viper and i though about when we organised the nissan mountain cruise you came on. unfortunately we didn't have CBs but we did use phones and the only hitch was the last 3 people missing the turn (incl me) but all worked out well. we even spent 3 hours driving round the day before trying to find the route we wanted. |
