Picked up another S13 the other day and started getting it ready for its date with the roadworthy guy.

Swapped the wheels with bald tyres for the old ones off my other S13. The crappy compliance tyres are still legal, by heaps. Yay for cheap, hard tyres lol.

New tie rod ends, adjusted the handbrake, cleaned the oil off the engine, swapped over one cam cover before I ran out of time and had to go to work.

Still need to replace the emission hoses as they are more like ag pipe than rubber now, Including the one that goes down through the manifold.. PITA place to get to. Bloody hoses did not want to come off the cam covers, so some gentle persuasion was exercised.

No work tomorrow, so I'll be back into it again.

Blew up the factory single on the cressida. Sounded like a Jet....

And of course, one of the manifold bolts rounded.. Down came the welder. Myself and a mate got it off eventually.

But yeah, done.

What turbo are you going to replace it with Anchor?

Iunno man. Can get that one hiflowed for $1200. Can get another stocko one in unknown condition for $350. Can get a PCPA 35r with internal gate and .63 rear with dump and all fittings 2 weeks old for $600..

I want to try retain the standard manifold as aftermarket ones are fucking expensive for the vvti... Standard flange is very clost to T3

I've still got standard manifold on mine with a high flowed HKS GT2835R Pro. If I was to buy another turbo, it would be GT3076 or Trust TD06-25G. Good for 400hpatw and still very responsive. I just worked with the turbo that came with it.

Walked to Big W to buy a new battery after the old one left me stranded, then parked it outside my mates place (lots of road camber) and what fuel was left in the tank ran and hid on the other side of the fuel tank... Fffffuuuuuuu!

On my way home from work I tried to fill my 10L fuel can and gave up after I eventually got about 5L into it. Seriously, the fuel was barely trickling out of the nozzle. After what seemed like forever I decided I'd inhaled enough fumes and that 5L would have to do.

Great day for me and cars lol. First time I'm driven the S13 (excluding a quick trip around the block a few days ago) in about 14 months and this is how it treats me! Actually, until the battery shat itself it was going fine. I'd forgotten how much fun it was to drive. Oh, well.. I'll throw some fuel in it tomorrow, and bolt the new battery down and take it for a decent drive.

Spent the afternoon working on the old black beast.. removed the power-steering pump, removed the radiator overflow bottle because it is stuffed, tidied up the engine bay a bit- zip tying stuff neatly out of the way and such, then spent about an hour under the car with degreaser and rags cleaning all the oil off the motor/steering rack/cross member etc, so I can see where it is leaking from.. assuming I haven't already fixed it last time. This being able to work on my car in a carport is refreshing my enthusiasm for doing mechanical stuff!

Finally installed the oil filter relocation kit I bought ages ago and changed the oil. Fixed up a couple of dents that have been annoying me for a while and rebogged the rust repair behind the sunroof. The rust hadn't come back, but the bog was lifting and cracking. The car yet return to respectable looking lol. I've been using Plasti-Bond instead of normal bog, and I think I prefer using it, even though it is more expensive.

Also put together a set of hockey puck engine mounts that I'll try and fit up tomorrow. $24 for the pair, much better than the $295 for one side (CA18 in S13) that REPCO quoted me..

I'm actually enjoying doing stuff to the beast again.. shame I only have a couple of days left where I have a nice shady carport to work in.

Test fit of the new front bar. There's no way in hell that the cooler is going to fit without some serious cutting.

Oil, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter and plugs on a mates Lux yesterday. Also filled up the power steering fluid. The thing hadn't been serviced for about 20-25000kms...Oil was very black.

When he dropped it off, the steering was stiff and heavy, and groaning like an old man. PS reservoir was damn near empty. Topped it up, and now it steers smoothly and quietly.

Hahaha where's that thread from some mexican engine builder who was using a wood planer to face heads and a dremel to port and polish and shit, building a fully sick "race prepped" 4G63 or something.

Found the compliance plate that my mechanic couldn't find and told me it didn't exist. It was hidden behind the factory heat proofing for some weird reason.
