MJ80, i'm having a kid and need a family wagon. Hard to find a nice 4.2 diesel Patrol in my price range. Considering buying father in laws 80 series with turbo 1hz. Talk me out of it aghhhhh

Assuming your talking about 4.2 GU's not GQ's as the 80s are a shittonne more $ than the equiv GQ.

Whats your budget like ? try for a factory TD if it has to be boosted, if the 1hz t is cheap just be sure its running a reasonable level of boost sub 10psi is safe for that engine long term without cooling, there isnt really much else you have to worry about when buying a 2nd hand diesel 80 tbh, if its manual expect gbox to be slightly notchy with age, its normal they are still solid as so dont stress if it is. If its a family wagon your after, they are alot more well appointed and a more comfortable car all round than the patrols so you will appreciate that, GXL's and up that is.

Yeah shes been getting driven a bit lately, that will happen though trying to put big wagons where big wagons shouldn't be, as you know lol.

heres my 2002 wrangler. havent owned it long but the wish list is growing day by day. 3 inch body lift with 2.5inch ranchos all round. running 33 inch claws for now but going to 35 or 36's soon hopefully. arb swing away rear bar with tyre carrier and arb sliders. winch bar with a 13000 pound winch and 240 blitz spotties.

Whoops!


Decided id go for a quick drive, been through this section before, its rained a bit since though, its really not a technical section i was just not paying attention i guess lol
Stupid me was changing to a steel winch bar on the weekend and took my old shitty alloy one off, but didn't get around to finish putting my steel bar on so it took me a good 15 mins to dig out my rear recovery point and a 45 min wait for my mate to rock up to pull me out........silly silly me.
