If it has rego it must be sold with a rwc

Big problems for me then, I am in Sydney and leave the country in a few weeks, need to get rid of this car. Would it be possible for a perspective buyer to take the car to qld then get a rwc and then change the name on the car?

most legal and quickest option would be to de-rego and sell un-registered.

Thanks for the advice

However I think I have left it too late for this I leave the country In the 8March, hopefully backpackers that are heading to Queensland will take it ! Its 1999 Daewoo wagon with over 300kms on the clock so at this stage id take 1000 bucks for it.

Hope something pops up ! Has any one experienced selling to wholesalers ? Prices will be drastically low i presume

This is one of those very rare occasions when you are not required by law to have a current safety certificate before advertising your vehicle for sale. Unfortunately there are a couple of other potential issues, the most obvious being that without a safety certificate the new owner cannot transfer the registration until they obtain a SC themselves and if they don't (which is quite likely), you are going to be looking over your shoulder until the registration expires, and possibly beyond. Depending on your particular circumstances you may be asked questions why you haven't had the vehicle registered in NSW but the main issue is obviously my previous concern. Cancel the registration, collect your pro rata refund and sell the vehicle unregistered, it's by far the safest option.

if they are backpackers i highly doubt they would transfer the rego anyway. probably just drive it then sell it on again in a month when they leave.

if you are in syd where is the car and who are they getting it off? get that person to go get cert for you?

You cant get a RWC unless you have a QLD licence and address. You can sell it without one but you may end up with fines from speeding etc. from that person with no way to get out of it due to not supplying it.

I guess the question has to be asked why you have a Qld registered car in NSW. I assume you moved to NSW and didn't transfer it over? You have two options if you want to do it the legal and proper way.

1) Find some way of getting a Qld rwc to supply with the car
2) Transfer car to NSW rego temporarily and then go about selling the car as per the NSW rules.
