Hey Guys,

I need some advice.

I just had a safety inspection on my car and the guy failed it for stupid little things.
He told me I HAVE to go back to him to get my re inspection pass, is this true? or can I go to another inspector.

This guys just wants more and more of my money.

sounds like a ploy to me, I'm not sure though, I remember someone telling me they went to another person (if i recall correctly), just ask another guy and see what he says,

What sort of little things? if there cheap fix them and go through him, if that fails go dodgy roadie tongue.gif

i dont think you can use someone elses inspection cert with someone else as they will go through the whole car again
besides second time its usually free unless your using a mobile mechanic maybe an extra $50 call out fee?

From memory yes I think you do have to go back to the same person, but usually it's free, however everyone is different I think....you can always get a second opinion but that will cost you more.

What "little" things did he fail you on?

What exactly are these "little things" if its simple shit like blown bulbs or a loose handbrake, fix it and go back to the same guy...

you can go to another inspector but you will have to pay again. if you take it to the 1st bloke he will check to see if you have fixed the things he knocked. you shouldnt have to pay him any money for the second inspection. unless you get him to fix it

Reinspection by same RWC workshop within 14 days is free, outside 14 days there will be another fee as it will be treated as another new RWC inspection. If you go elsewhere you will be paying again and I am sure those little things will be picked up again. If it is little then fix it! If you were buying a car would you want it to have had a dodgy RWC?!?! And if you are selling a car with a dodgy RWC shame on you!

You need to present the car back to the issuing mechanic with the defects/concerns rectified within 14 days or he is legally obliged to report your vehicle to qld transport.

Hey Guys,

Thanks heaps for your replies! I cotacted another inspector and he told me the guy i went through loves peoples money.. I have made a new appointment ith a new guy on friday.

The things were a small leak in the cv joint and a broken handle. AND he wanted another $95 for the second inspection.

you got 14 days to fix the things up that he failed you for.

if you go back BEFORE 14 days. you dont hve to pay extra and he can give you the rest of the paperwork after he checks the failed items.

if 14 days AFTER. he can charge you for another inspection of 66.55 (legally this is the maximum) to go over the vehicle again.

you could go to another place but then you'd be paying 66.55 to get it failed again which isnt worth it

Did he actually fill out the roadworthy paperwork or just do a safety inspection a give you a run down on what's wrong? Talking to his competition isn't going to help, of coasre he's going to say that guy A. Is a rip off and just wants your money, he wants exactly the same thing. In saying that charging twice is a dog act, I'd fix the door handle and tell him if it's within 14 days it's free as stated by law. Is the cv boost a split or is it just weeping? If just weeping clean it down and you'll be sweet.

I take it , this 66.55 is a shop price and you take it to them ???
No mobile RWC bloke does them anywhere near that
Mine cost me a touch over $100

But he travels 35ks to get here

not quite true a rwc inspector can charge more if he has to remove wheels/drums (or things that aint easy to inspect )
