Went for a drive with Calibrated over the weekend and got to see the Amarok in action, very capable with the factory locker and man they are sexy !

Being dwarfed, pretty sure this was the first time iv had to look up out of my car to have a conversation.

Crusier is looking good MJ, will look good when you have a rear bar on, have seen the build up on 4wdaction. And what size tyres is the green thing running? easily something bigger than 40" ?

Thanks man hopefully pick the bar up this week and get it on for the weekend.

I dont know how big they are but my MTRs measure 36" tall so thats may be a bit of perspective for you... shocked.gif

Awesome car though and a nice bunch of blokes that group.

Factory locker really works wonders, even with road tyres and rain it still moves through. Good Stuff!

Yeah iv had them for a while now, hence all my input in your thread on outers about your length and other dramas.

Good shocks though, love the travel in the slow and love the quality in the quick stuff. Will look to go to 2.5s when these need a rebuild.

ohhhhhh now the penny drops i didnt even make the connection/ didnt realise that MJ80 owned that car.

The next step for me will be 2.5 coil overs i feel.

You'll never guess it but im gonna have to buy another pair of 14's now too. Turns out with extended bump stops and 35"s the rear will fit them. Thus is the stigma of pioneering a car no one really bothers with!

Ironically i know exactly what you mean, when i did my research on doing moving up to the long travel Fox's i couldn't find ANY information at all for anyone that had done them in an 80 series before and kept it as a daily driver without total customs mounts and towers ect. As hard as it is to believe about a car so widly used around the world as the 80, i could only find two guys in the USA that had done it before and i wasn't satisfied with how they had done it or couldn't get the info out of them, and there was no one in Australia apart from people who had payed Autocraft in vic to to the install and build for them, closest i got in Aus was a 105 series in perth that ran a similar setup, but still had to go it alone.

So i know exactly what its like to sort of just jump into it and give it your best shot and in a way, pioneer it. There was just NO useable info to help me info what so ever and it was an awful shitfight having to work it all out and work around mounting issues ect, in hindsight its all very easy but not the first time round. Worth it though.

Me on the bonnet of my Pathy a few years back, had 4" lift and 33" Bighorns with cut guards and lawn edger flare specials. As soon as I went into those holes in Menai I'd just shut the engine off and wait for someone to pull me out lol wasnt greatly capable with a 2.4 petrol and IFS but was super reliable and most of all fun smile.gif miss it. Got an 82 Hilux now with 6" lift, 35's and a worked V8 on gas, waiting to get my license back to go have some fun in it.

So after selling the triton -

Which had a 2" body lift, re-indexed torsion bars, TJM bar, 32" Dunlop Rover MTs, 2.5L turbo diesel etc etc... I went on the hunt for something a bit more capable.
.
And after looking at Land Rovers, Jeeps, 60Series', Gq's etc, i ended up with this bad boy -

Its a 1991 GQ Ti, TB42, 5 speed manual.
So far has a 4" spring lift, Ironman shocks, Caster adjustment and adj panhard bars etc, aftermarket steering dampener, twin fuel tanks, dual batteries, steel bar with 9500LB winch, spotties, rear quarter chop and custom tube rear bar, rear drawer setup, and all power options.
Its fucking awesome and quite the step up from the triton.

Future mods? All it needs is a UHF, and a roof bar with some lighting as its got shocking light spread and im sick of guessing how deep ruts are in the dark.
Enjoy!

Not bad at all bud, quite a change from the Triton but its good your jumping right into it and looks to be a neat pick up.

You will need both those fuel tanks too, that engines worse than the 1FZ on fuel ! a friend who owns one says it wouldn't be over the top to actually tow a trailer full of fuel around behind you with those things tongue.gif
