i have a vz s ute 175kw, im wanting to mod it as v8 rego is a bit pricey for me so i decided id spend some money on the 6 , so far i have exhaust and CAI so far but im looking for some decent hp mods , i have heard of 200rwkw being made by a shop in melbourne for under 7g or the cpr6 blokes making 420hp N/A.

im on my opens but keen to see what i can get n/a before whacking on a turbo or charger , tips and advice on how to pull decent numbers for a v6 n/a?

The couple of grand you spend on it chasing power na, and you'll still get left behind by a late model v8 which forfeits your small price difference in rego, plus tuned ls motors are consistently returning better fuel usage than the v6s. Don't waste your money na, boost is your friend, pro flow fabrications are seeing 300rwkw on standard alloytec with there turbo kits! Or raptor do fairly cheap blower kits for the alloytec now aswell

go a capa supercharger mate, so long as your services have been reasonably regular, you should be able to get decent power figures on low to moderate boost. remember though its an all alloy engine, and they arent all that solid, ive worked with holden for 10 years, and know for a fact that if you abuse them, they will break. and when they do, you may as well throw the engine in the bin and buy another one. cant buy standard parts for them, and a rebuild for an alloytec usually starts at about 7 grand.

good luck, keep us posted

270rwKw and better fuel economy in a VZ SS with just a $500 ECU mail order flash tune for the small difference in rego... and you think $7K to make 200rwKw is a good idea? The V8 will also get 30% better fuel economy as well...

Is NOT going to happen with your alloytec. The cheapest mods you can do with the most power. FULL exhaust, CAI, high flow filter.

Unless you want to start looking at a charger or turbo. That's it.

Bigger injectors do shit but use more fuel. Cams do nothing except take $4,000 out of your pocket. Bigger TB and the car wont idle. A tune is useless. ( Matt stockers told me that himself. )

Your best bet is to get some better diff gears. maybe some 3.7's or even 3.9's

I've been researching this for the past year.

A tune gives you a MAX total of about 20RWKW's with the above mods I mentioned to do. And that costs $1,000 for the tune.

The alloytecs are an over engineered car that look great on paper, But still have the shit kicked out of them by a buik. Power is delivered in the most slowest way possible. The thing sounds like it will fall apart at full note. They use the same amount of fuel as an XR6 Turbo.

gah... I hate my car.

Oh yeah another pet hate. IT'S FUCKING ALLOYTEC THERE IS NO 'H' ON THE END OF IT!!!

As stated above, you want to spend 7K on a 6 just to bring it into alignment with an 8 because of rego?

It would be cheaper and you would see better figures on Fuel and power to just buy an 8. Say you have a 4k change over price to go from a V6 to VZ/VY SS even then you will still have 3k left and divide that over the $267 price diff per year of rego and for a powered up 6 to match a V8 cost wise would still take at least 3 years (taking into account servicing - extra oil for an 8, rego and insurance).

I also heard on the radio the other day that if Newman gets in next election he will be reforming rego and reducing its price for private owners. (I know its a politician but you never know - he might be telling the truth tongue.gif)
