Vy Camber Kit? - the difference between 2&4 point?

hi boys and girls i have a vy sedan which has king springs superlows and am getting a camber kit fitted i brought the super pro kit which is a 2 point system. my question is, is there a difference between 2 & 4 point sysyems & how much adjustment can a 2point system give me

yes you will get more adjustment out of a 4 point kit, but being it is a vy a 2 point should suffice as you should already have the toe rods in the back to adjust the toe.

the two point kit allows you to adjust camber primarily, the 4 point allows you to adjust camber and toe.

Pretty sure it will have a two point camber kit Factory. Anything from VX Series Two did.

4 point is designed for the utes and VT/VT2/VX etc unless you have serious tyre wear problems OR you intend on going to a race track smile.gif

ok while this is up. what is the best 4 point camberkit for vt II. ive been told pedders is crap and the blue brand is crap cant remember the name

i have NEVER seen a commodore come standard with a camber kit in the rear end, the only thing they have in the back is a toe rod either side which does just that, adjust the toe. there is NO camber kits standard. please feel free to post pictures of a standard camber kit as i have never seen one on the many 100s of commodores i have wheel aligned.

sorry, correction, the VE commodores have camber and toe in the rear, everything prior didnt.

Sorry I was thinking of the toe rod. Here is my old Vy sitting on super lows all round no camber kit on 18's with tyres wearing pretty evenly.

no probs, you are correct in saying that majority of late model commodores do not have a problem with sitting that low, the problem generally comes around when you start going lower then that, ie ssl or sssl/ultra low.

vq - early vx had bad camber problems when you changed the springs.

you still wont fix the camber issue its a desgin fault. Dont waste your money on camber kits it will only help a couple of degrees and considering there +30 degree out before you lower them it wont really help mate

is your last name Hubner? cause his taxi headlights are usually 30 degrees off.

I got my VY SS ute rear suspension perfect, every VR onwards wheel alignment I have ever done has been spot on. VXII onwards are better on dynamic wheel alignment settings though.

They do work, unless adjusted by a moron...

Perfect setting, so that it gives good handling but when the rear end squats under acceleration, the rear tyres get maximum traction... that is the cool benefit of Solidworks 3D, you can map out how the suspension arms react with the tiniest adjustments

A VY only needs this kit:

SPF2545K - Suited to vehicles fitted with "Factory Toe Adjusting Arm"



A VT requires this kit:

SPF0877K - IRS Adjusting Camber & Toe Kit



VR VS can have either of these 2:

SPF0877K - IRS Adjusting Camber & Toe Kit

SPF0877TK - IRS Adjusting Toe Only Bushing

So what's a good camber setting for a Vt and vx ?

I got Vt with superpro kit yet still have 1.8deg bothsides? Or this just a dickhead who did it ?

not all post vx II had toe adjustments, have had success with both super pro and pedders although i think pedders are simpler to adjust because as long as the outer bush is set correctly it doesnt need to be touched during wheel alignment, so you may need a 4 point if not factory fitted with toe links.

My VX series 1 has an aftermarket camber kit, installed before i got the car. The rears still get chewed out to shit, and no suspension shop wanted to touch it, as they all said it will be chewing out tyres again in no time. Thus not worth the effort.

Hence why im doing a VZ diff cradle swap.

I prefer the Superpro, as the long bolt is the alignment tool(get it wrong and you need to go around 350 degrees again, but not that hard) and the nut on the long bolt helps you keep the setting while you tighten the short bolt. Torquing up both sides seperately, just makes it much easier to ensure the settings STAY accurate. I see too many Pedders ones shift during driving sad.gif

My ute had 0.6 degrees of rear camber, with 0.5mm of toe out and VY utes have no toe links and with the 10mm longer swing arm length due to the way I aligned the bushes, it reduced squat(springs could counteract squat due to fulcrum being longer) so tyres could hook up better yet roll centre allowed great handling. Hell, I had 2500Km's on the tyres with 400+rwK and tyres were wearing perfectly even.

Hey Guys.

I have a VU ute and have purchased the rear k frame and control arms from a VY with the toe adjusters. I just want to know what bush on the control arms i have to replace. Is it the one that attaches to the K frame or the chassis itself. I.e the outer or inner bush.

I havent even got my vy lowered and its wearing un evenly on the inside edge pretty badly, IRS is good for a soft ride but thats about it. lol but they are only 16s so meh, ill worry about camber kits n whatnot if i ever put new rims on.
