Hi, As description states, I'm looking at advice on a blow-off valve, is it possible to put one on a 1999 Turbo Diesel Mazda Bravo 4x4? I'm getting a turbo timer installed next week or the week after, but is it easy or possible to install one... Anyone with advice or tips on this subject would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. |

I merely want to do it, as I've customized the exhaust for a deeper sound, and I can hear the turbo in the background, I'd like to accentuation the sound of the turbo... |

diesel boost is quite abit different to petrol, mainly because there is no throttle body. unsure as to why you would want a bov when it'e not needed? there is a way to do it but it will give you aids ^^^^ this is pretty much it really as there is no butterfly to close then its not needed at all, throttle is controlled by the fuel pump so 0no damaging pressure is applied to anything on throttle shutoff, wont actually change the sound of any thing, you could try a screamer pipe for your wastegate if that made you happy.will accentuate the wastegate noise . .but added cost for no particular gain, other than noise. |

If you only want to hear the turbo spooling then up your boost. Simple. That will make it sound alot louder. I listen to factory Mitsubishi's with loud sounding turbo's. I can hear them no worries at all and that it factory everything, not even 10 Kilometers on the clock. |

blow off valve as stated would be pointless and stupid. What exhaust system is on it?? i ran a 2.5 straight threw system on my 2.8 TD hilux no mufflers and you had all the turbo noise you wanted Good to see someone who actualy knows what they are talking about!!! Mosus is dead right. If you want turbo noise, it is very simple, NO MUFFLERS. Manufactureres try to stop this noise as most people don't want it, or appreciate it. I think you will be very happy with the increased turbo whistle you can hear from the system described by mosus. If you want the whistle you hear when you pass a turbo diesel truck up a hill, this is what you need. There is not a big difference in exhaust note, just alot more turbo whistle. If you don't believe us take out the piece of exhaust that attatches directly after engine pipe, ie. before the mufflers. I am sure this will deliver the turbo noise you are after. By the way speaking from experience not speculation, just like Mosus is. On a turbo diesel the turbo muffles the engine noise, the mufflers muffle the turbo noise, I am sure you will be happy with a system like Mosus runs... |

It's possible on the surf/4runners/hilux around the early 90's. I've seen some guides on how to do it, involves welding a little pipe between the turbo and the intake. I believe those engines may have a throttle butterfly, or if not, have something similar. |
