It's way quicker than 9, dad had one and I think the quoted figure was 6.7 but real world was more like low 7's. For an ss yes, for a 6 you're dreaming. |

New cars are tested for days to get the lowest times, so to actually get the times quoted is a miracle. |

They only have test cars for a very short space of time and are stuck with whatever weather conditions they get, with unlimited access to the cars and perfect conditions they would go quicker than the quoted times. I've seen heapss of stock VY's run 13's. |

id like to see that... Probably a dozen or more on ls1.com.au, some as low as 13.6-13.7. It's funny to see everyone going nah that can't be right when independant testing has proved that the figures are right. Yeah sure most people aren't going to do 0-100 in 6.5 seconds in a VE SV6 but it has been proved that it can do that time. If you want to know how quickly it will go with a p plater driving and 4 flat cap passengers and a full tank of fuel then the answer is a pineapple but in ideal conditions these things are quick. |

Definitely not 6 seconds or sub 14 seconds quarter. I would guess at 7. Something and 14.something. Fast for a big family car... Ordinary when compared to fast cars. This. The new SV6's have a reasonable amount of power though, more than the old 5L HSV's were, in terms of Kw's anyway. |

Slightly off topic, my old VX R8 (M6, 3 years old and roughly 50k on the clock at the time) ran 13.71 absolutely dead stock (7 degrees). The best the magazine test drivers could get it was 13.8-13.9 but that was in 20+ degrees. Given that the (non HSV) VY 8's are 235-245kw depending on model/series it seems entirely plausible to me that a 13.9 would be possible under ideal conditions and with an experienced driver. Never timed the 0-100k run but the figures indicated somewhere around 5.6 seconds. |

I know nothing about VE SV6's (besides driving a hire car for a few days recently and I was pleasantly surprised, and this was after jumping out of an E60 M5). Of course they won't take your breath away, that's not what they are designed for but with 210kw I'd be astounded if a good driver couldn't pilot one from 0-100k in less than 7 seconds. In a perfect world your figures are great xxxx. I have also seen the odd stock SS run good numbers, however, the bad definately takes over from the better ones. This may be caused mainly by driver error, bad tyres and track heat/condition. |

For sure, and as you know there are some 'freak' stock engines that make more power than they should (and of course there are more than a few that underperform....). It takes a lot of practice to run consistently fast ET's (and 0-100's) so it depends a lot on the skill level of the driver, the guy who did 13.71 in my Clubby has done more passes than I have had hot dinners, the best I could manage was a high 13.9 ![]() They also weigh 500kg more. They are only about 50kg more than a VT Exec 5L from memory, not a lot anyway. |

The old freak motor trick. Even my 07 WRX was so much quicker than my brother inlaws. Both 07 models, his was a nugget, mine hauled arse. We put it down to a Friday arvo car and they were too worried about beer o'clock. (as we all are on a Friday arvo) - Moral to the story, it happens alot. |
