So I had an eBay special arrive today, firstly it was wrapped like I had a rifle posted to me - which was pretty cool look at peoples faces. Secondly, it is massive...

Here you can clearly see it mounting my 50cm2 softbox, note the SB28 speed light in the back of it, just to give this thing some scale.. It eats small children.

Yeah eventually is the plan. Wayne has pulled out though - So I might just keep onto it and sell it last rather than selling it first and then shorting myself a fast lens until who knows when.

Closest thing I've come to a flood pic, the northside really isn't feeling any flood-love which is GREAT hearing that 2500 streets will flood and 9500 homes will get damaged yet both my wife's work and my own are telling us it's business as usual (until we get swept to our deaths when the flood hits). Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Nah man, I'm northside, nothing at all happened here apart from very innercity area's (i.e. 5 mins from CBD).

Nawwwww. The ND grad got too heavy on the top, it's really obvious to me and rather annoying but I'm not too motived to fix it. Stupid cheap ND plastic crap.

More and more as the days go on I start thinking about ditching my job and trying to some how make money from photography. There's no way I'd make the same money and the only way would be wedding photography, I just really don't like the idea of screwing up someone's wedding photos. I think I'd starve trying to skill up enough until I'm happy with that sort of responsibility.

Meh, adding facebook like & share buttons was hard enough. Surprisingly my blog gets 80+- unique visitors a day (most probs bots) yet zero comments apart from you Neil!

So, my YN460II just stopped firing last night, upsetting me greatly. I eventually tracked down that there's a dodgy cap on the PCB in the flashhead so I went to Jaycar and grabbed one, chucked it in, beauty it works! Then as I was getting leash to hold it and unsoldering it, it let go pretty quickly and shorted a mini coil & a track.. POP and off with the magic smoke! Oh Noes!

Anyway, I tracked it down to a little coil (that had scorch marks wasn't hard to track) so now I gotta find another coil and replace that.. or perhaps get a cheap YN460II off ebay and use that coil/PCB..

Damned YN! My 580ex2 and YN are my A-Team now, I'm using the 580 on camera & bouncing and the YN is bouncing too for some nice soft lighting and it's also a rim.. Shoulda got another one the other week when I had a little spare cash :S

i saw a YN460II on ebay yesterday, im sure it was like 46.99 with free postage?
how do you find it anyway? do you think it would be a good interim on camera flash? (am currently saving to go away to Europe, cant justify 250-500 for a flash but can certainaly justify sub 50)

Yeah but we're moving house, plus saving to buy one, plus driving to canberra for a week in a couple months plus recently got married and moved = savings.. what savings.

Plus I'd much rather fix it than buy another as it's 99.9% good, just one little coil.

It's ok for on-camera flash, but it's pure manual - no TTL etc.. But I don't use TTL with my 580 on camera anyway, tilt the head, set power and use aperture to adjust. Easy peasy.

Fixed it. Luckily the last wrap of the copper joining the leg is what turned to smoke (400v will turn almost anything to smoke!), dude at work joined it up for me (I can't work THAT fine) and she's kicking alone fine now. WEW!
