Hi guys, APC workshop here in Brisbane have done some tests and found that the level is not very consistent and to date they haven't seen a true 85% content, |

a bp rep told me not to run e 85 or any ethanol fuels in cars not designed to run it for the following reasons : ethanol is highly corrosive and will damage metal fuel system components needle n seats in carbies float bowls fuel lines and pump components, dont run it in cars that sit around for long periods ie weekend or once a month run cars for this reason , and also when it sits for long periods it will solidify. its also highly absorbent of moisture and not to run it in boats at all i have a $1700 repair bill that was paid by a fuel company (not aloud to disclose for legal reasons) for repairs to my el xr6, the ethanol fuel ate the fuel rails and damaged the pump and corroded the injectors and had to replace the tank as it filled up with sludge i was driving taxis and didnt drive the car for months at a time so it sat around. i have also found that i could do 800 ks to a tank of regular unleaded on the highway and about 900 on premium , but it dropped to 700 to 750 on the e85 , its not all its cracked up to be and unless you can tune your car or build the motor correctally to run on it there is no benifit to running it over premium or regular unleaded |

the v8 super cars might run this fuel but they also rebuild their engines between races. |
