That photo looks awesome!! Starts to make you think "Wtf has gone on up there?"

Im going to have a go with the SLR on the telescope tonight  I think we got ours from bigw?? for under 60 bucks. The moon moves very fast though, it will only stay in the sight for about 30 seconds.

You should get an adapter for your telescope that fits your SLR, it's the best way to do it rather than just 'through the view finder'.

Just a couple from yesterdays skid pan action at Mt Cotton

Yep...that's a RAV4...and it copped the biggest flogging of it's life!

Really like the processing :P

Any slower shutter shots?

Nah I was thinking about slowing it down, but then I'd run the risk of the cars getting blurry. Does kind of make them look like they are sitting still, doesn't it? Oh well, live and learn :P

well yeah, but i think you got away with it from the water spray - imo the only thing showing action.

Yeah, the R32 shot is the best, the others are too carpark or even a car being hosed at rather than causing the water disturbances.

Out of the vault - Pre-DSLR! Willowbank, 2002/2003. Most of these are unedited, straight off the camera.

Swank!

You ARE going a little O.T.T with the steam/smoke/haze thing but.. new fetish?

Also I think you should faux some cop lights on that wall or something. And warm her juuuuuuuust a touch, she's still a little too 'Hi, my name is Lit-with-white-light-in-an-orange-environment."

lol new fetish :bowrofl: I was doing a re-creation of a picture I'd seen ages ago. I was after a grundgy urban late arvo feel assisted with streetlight.

Nah, that's the only picture out of the set that was shot with that style.

Not a pic, but this is a quick movie shot with my GoPro on the way to Harrys on Thurs night. 22min of footage was 2.3GB on the camera, I sped up the video to a 3 minute session and reduced the quality quite a bit to get it down to 9MB.

http://www.dionnewcomb.com/movies/2010-11-11/interharrys.wmv

Results - found out the cam isn't that crash hot at night and Pinnacle Movie Studio doesn't like large files. Had to switch to Sony Vegas Pro. God that program is a pain in the ass.

5 seconds to download. God I'm gonna miss cable!

1. Bad song.
2. I thought Harrys was dead
3. Shoulda gone through the city for more lights!

Yea, I went through the tunnel on the way there, through the city on the way back. Video comes out looking way too shit when it's compressed down.

Song suggestions for the future? lol. Next drift day (during the day, not night) I'm planning on going, attach the camera to a few cars.

Nick_
Post #126

Do that. Let us know when it's done. Perhaps don't compress as much, or use a really bad audio compression so the video can be bigger.

A teaser from a photoshoot I did on Saturday. Loved the location, hated the weather, but least it didn't rain while I was there. Oh, and the tide was moving in, so electrical gear + water = not a good thing. Did get out without a scratch though. ;)

Hmmmmm I dunno man, these feel awfully 'lit', but not in a good way.. It feels like there's missing ambient and heavy shadows really detract for me, the bottom shot and the horizontal shadows for e.g. and the top of the new post with the 2~ stops under background

The B&W one almost feels like night time because of the under exposure in the top corner.. I guess you were working at max sync to kill all the ambient you could or was this done in low light?

Mainly what I'm trying to say is, it doesn't feel like the best you could do - IMHO I'd have exposed ontop of the ambient rather than trying to kill it because you didn't have enough light, trying to nuke it with one rather than having a fill or trying to fill with ambient..

What were your plans for this? I assume you wanted some nice sun and to use your light to add that razzle-dazzle and the weather effed it for you yeah? Also give us some technical info, what light(s), power, mod etc.. I'll shoot for a studio strobe (from your water + power comment) and a nice big softbox/octabox for the soft shadows even at some distance. I think a second light as a fill or hair light probably would've saved these for me IMO.

Yea the weather screwed me up, light was failing...believe it or not, that 1st/3rd one has had some shadow cut out via layers...it's no where near as severe. I reckon I had the light turned up way too much, even though the lightmeter was telling me everything is golden. I was using a single 500bxri set at 6.5 with a deep 35" rotalux with no diffuser. I think the no diffuser part really assisted in over lighting.

However, the model was very happy with the images  And for a first outdoor shoot, I thought they turned out ok.

Yeah man, totally. It's always those little tweaks that help make it or miss it.

From the eclipse tonight...thanks to cloud cover, I missed the actual event - this is one of the shots where it got out of the clouds. High wind at Wello Point was causing a shit of a thing too.

Nah Neal - pretty much all the others look like that. Here's a shot of Wello Point about 6.45pm...fuckin clouds in the distance. I hate you.

Best seen on a calibrated monitor.
