Nah, I got 4 flashguns for that!

Thinking about somehow using/getting a pack but since it's generic and a monoblock I haven't really fleshed out my options to get a generic pack as some packs have head controls etc..

All I now know is I need a Cybersync CSR/CSRB because I can easily use 3/4 flashes for an image but have to sync them off 2 triggers!

Designed to use with monoblocks. My 500BXri will do 1000 pops off 1 charge, so it's got some juice in it. There's a Melb supplier, $499 + $49 for a carry bag (highly suggest) plus around $25 for freight to BNE.

Your style of photography, i like it. Definitely the type i would like to aim for. Love the dog! haha its very cute.

Thanks man, we had a bit of a freak-out with the dog this morning. After going ape over his food as usual, 10 minutes later he was just standing there, not moving - normally he runs over to the door and jumps about when you're near there. Then he wouldn't stand up, he ended up vomiting then his whole face swelled up - 1 vet trip and $84 later he's back to normal, just has to be watched for 24hrs.. Little does the poor bugger know he's going right back to the same place tomorrow for the snip.. poor little bugger! He looked like a staffy with his muzzle & eyes all swollen :oopsie:

Get himself a toad?

Nick_
Post #1023

Dude, a toad is almost his size! No idea what it was, he was out 4 minutes because he started to get all weird. Will be a mystery forever me thinks.

I've seen a Jack Russel suffer from toad poison once. Eeys got very buldgy, breathing got faster than normal and he had some froth on the mouth. But if your dogs face swelled up - maybe he tried to go a bee or wasp?

Yeah who knows. All I know is today he was denied the desexing because his liver enzyme levels are too high (which the vet didn't tell us yesterday they would be) so essentially we paid $72 dollars and put him through a whole lotta stress to say 'come back in a month' when they could've told us this yesterday. Poor little bugger.

When I get something to shoot! Doing a park shoot of a lady from works kids, have some idea's like putting my new sandbags to the test with a dual-flashgun STU and other things. Should be good, if it doesn't rain that is!

Well, the wife worked 12 hours today so I was rather bored when I got home and after the little whinge above, I thought I'd throw up a self portrait - Nick style (with some humour) ;D Leash says I look young since I shaved the little Abe Lincoln I'd been sporting for quite a while now, a change is as good as a holiday.

4 lights on this puppy too. Bare beauty dish on the 300w, SB28 snooted for some rim, 540ez with the gel for a little green gradient & the 580 is optically slaved :)

Note the 580 kills the old-man double chin shadow  Nice trick to remember. Was going for a 'huh' confused look but I think it makes me look more down-syndrome now.. Ha.

SO!.. Since i dish it out all the time, anyone got some serious C&C for that image? Sure it's a bit of fun but I still lit it with the intent of being challenging (balancing the front 580 & the other 3). Any beefs? Anything you think could be done better etc?

My main gripe myself would be I should've moved it all forward to let that background gel hit with more colour and flat rather than going for a grad.

You next.

This is being over critical:

I would like to see a different shape, less oval, more circle for the background. I would have also like to have seen a touch more of the blue background behind the neck area. The 580 would suit this photo better about 1/6th of a stop lower, so you can see it is still firing but not too much loss in tonal range, but then again it is a 580 at 1/128th there isn't much you could have done.

All in all, thats being fucking picking about it.
I would like to see this setup minus the 580 on a female model.

Nick_
Post #1039

Aren't I pretty enough for you big boy?

Nah, appreciate the comments. I agree with the gel, but I think there'd be a fine line between drowning it in a background and not. Also the 580 could've easily been adjust more with power output but simply bringing it back from my face, but I didn't really think I had scored any shots until they hit Adobe bridge.

Would've been nice to have someone else on that side of the camera and me doing the shooting, self-timers are so frigging bossy!

Orange gels = god.
Maybe give her skin a bit of an orange filter, her skin looks quite blue.

Nick_
Post #1042

The top one has one, just very lightly (talking 3%) because she's very fare and wanted to look tanned. HAHA.

I'm wondering if the blue is because I think my huey does make things overlycool i feel..

James Dean
Post #1043

that would make it look warmer on my monitor, would it not?

Nick_
Post #1044

no, if it looks neutral on mine would mean it's TOO cool on yours..

Maybe..

Shit I dunno today.

Its always hard shooting on a full bright sunny day. You did a good job nick. Would have loved to see just a straight shot looking straight at you.

Otherwise is good. What does your wife think? Thats more important hahahaha.

She hates them haha. I tried to be very subtle and gentle with the skin editing etc.. Not something I ever normally do, I like sharpness but not over-the-top-cut-your-eyes sharpness but skin-work is all about blurring and blending! Not sure if I'm game to post the pre-PP shots..

Here's some more from late last night. Been shopping all damn day :/
