I think a nissan sr20 would pull a premium one week before race wars.

if you know f*ck all about cars doing a motor conversion probably isnt something you really wanna atempt.
your better off going to a workshop and pricing up labour for them to do it all for you. or find some1 on here that thinks they are capable of doing the job and trust they dont f*ck your car up.

save yourself some time, cash and headaches and just sell/trade the n16 and get something that has the power your looking for.

Im guessing your only a p plater, so that will limit you to what you can do legally anyway.

A. Fitting an engine older than the chassis of the car is illegal. Since SR20's have not been available in Aussie cars since the S15, your out of luck wink.gif

B. There is plenty of better ideas, like turbocharging your current engine wink.gif

C. If you dont like either of the above, change cars wink.gif

It was NEVER available in a post 2000 model Pulsar though wink.gif

For it to be legal, the SR20 would need to be an S15 VCT emissions spec engine. Anyone here going to volunteer to do the RWD to FWD engine conversion? didnt think so.

N15 SSS? I know its a bit older then your current car, but it comes with the SR20 from factory, and you might even make some money going from the n16 to n15, doesnt seem like a bad option....of course i am assuming you are on your P's, if you arnt, disregard my post.

Sounds like you don't have the money to do it, you cant legally do it and it almost sounds like you don't want to do it.

Im confused as to what you want suggestions on?

Going by your theory, non of the Sr20ve 20v motors are legal then.

Nor the Sr20Vet.

I know for a fact that the sr20 will definitely NOT bolt in, legal or not. if you are that keen on getting some more power, there is always things you can do to the qr to make it a little bit quicker. im sure there is cams/flat top pistons etc that you can get that would make it easier than replacing the whole engine.

Actually, it does bolt in.

Use the 70 series gearbox from the USA.

How on earth can you say that pulling a motor out, stripping it to bits, machine work, rebuild, tune etc is easier than just swapping the motor?

You can't legally drive the car if you did the swap anyway. If you want more power, get a better car.

If you're on your p's go get an N15 SSS if you want to keep it new'ish

Or if you want something that will handle better, get the N14 SSS

SR20 became history as it could not pass Australian EuroIII EM240 drive-cycle emissions testing post 2001. The more 'relaxed' emissions testing prior to this date allows the fitment of nearly any engine, including engines built AFTER 2001(20V and VET motors etc)

QG16/QG18 motor, not the QR.

China and USA had the SR20 motor in their Pulsar/Sentra. Engine mounts allow it to be a near bolt in swap.

Interesting. Drop an SR20VET into it.
