A. Fitting an engine older than the chassis of the car is illegal. Since SR20's have not been available in Aussie cars since the S15, your out of luck |

N15 SSS? I know its a bit older then your current car, but it comes with the SR20 from factory, and you might even make some money going from the n16 to n15, doesnt seem like a bad option....of course i am assuming you are on your P's, if you arnt, disregard my post. |

Keep dreaming sunshine. |

I know for a fact that the sr20 will definitely NOT bolt in, legal or not. if you are that keen on getting some more power, there is always things you can do to the qr to make it a little bit quicker. im sure there is cams/flat top pistons etc that you can get that would make it easier than replacing the whole engine. |

Actually, it does bolt in. Use the 70 series gearbox from the USA. How on earth can you say that pulling a motor out, stripping it to bits, machine work, rebuild, tune etc is easier than just swapping the motor? |

You can't legally drive the car if you did the swap anyway. If you want more power, get a better car. |

Going by your theory, non of the Sr20ve 20v motors are legal then. Nor the Sr20Vet. SR20 became history as it could not pass Australian EuroIII EM240 drive-cycle emissions testing post 2001. The more 'relaxed' emissions testing prior to this date allows the fitment of nearly any engine, including engines built AFTER 2001(20V and VET motors etc) I know for a fact that the sr20 will definitely NOT bolt in, legal or not. if you are that keen on getting some more power, there is always things you can do to the qr to make it a little bit quicker. im sure there is cams/flat top pistons etc that you can get that would make it easier than replacing the whole engine. QG16/QG18 motor, not the QR. China and USA had the SR20 motor in their Pulsar/Sentra. Engine mounts allow it to be a near bolt in swap. |
