A little something that goes by the name of volumetric efficiency,

How many liters would an old v8 need to make 1000hp ? This little Honda motor made almost that and it's only a 1.5 !!!! It did have a fair bit of boost aswell tho

I dont see where F1 has any relavance at all in a street car debate....
Sure honda can get 1000 bhp out of a 1.5 RACE engine,but how much power does their 1.5 STREET engine make? :thumbsup:

Power to weight ratio Honda would have to have better odds, take a 351 xf and a whatever the equivalent Honda is thru grass tree and see which does the quicker time ?

theres a guy on ns.com currently attempting to DESTROKE a ca18det to make 1000hp...seems to be going well so far...

I would take that challenge, as long as the route went all the way from Risdon vale to Richmond! Any advantage the Honda had on the windy bits would soon be overcome by the V8 on longer straight bits on the other side of the hill!
Thats why the best tracks have a mix of corners and long straights, it makes for much more interesting racing!

I get what you are saying mookie,and as you already know,grasstree is my backyard :thumbsup:.
But you forget to take into account varients.

For arguments sake,lets use my clubby as an example.
Yes it is a lil porky,yes it is underpowered(well,in my eyes anyway),and yes it looks stock as a rock,but as anyone who has seen the suspension setup on my car would know,more money has been thrown at my suspension than most here have spent on cars....close to 5 g to be a little more accurate....

Now i dont care who is driving,a "superior" pintara/ksev/180Be fucked,in full boost spec with choppys,standard shocks,weldy and cannon isnt going to even see my tailights down grasstree in my big lardarse bad handling V8....

Ok fair enough how about this purely hypothetical situation
You buy a stock clubby I buy a stock jap car of the same age then we both spend 5gs on each car and then drive thru grass tree ? What year is a vr?

Same goes for keewee with his car same age same budget ? What year is an xf ?

This is all pretty silly...

Dollar per dollar spent (i.e. same budget) and the same driver is the only way to have a fair comparison. What we need is a) the Stig and :thumbsup: some common sense.

I think I may as well look up some 2010 targa times now.

Early modern positions 1 -> 28 are japanese (18) and german (10) with Japanese cars taking out positions 1 -> 9. Fastest V8 was a HSV Walkinshaw special edition at 29th position and half an hour behind the leader.

Yeah, I'd be keen to have a crack at any V8 drivers time with an Evo 4.

Lets face it the Ksev vs clubsport debate is dumb: just look at the cost difference when new, an Evo or WRX is a much better comparison.

Edit: mookie its an XE which puts it at 1982 -> 1984. XF ran until 88.

ive driven 4cyl autos 6cyl autos v8 autos and xr8 turbo autos and all of them could be more exciting being manual, im a drifter and just bias i guess. If you told me Fwd cars are way better because their faster (theoretically) i still wouldnt get one!
