I wouldn't even bother lifting your hilux, they are shit off road. they got no flex anywhere. well the 2 I saw didn't anyways.

You have absolutely no idea do you??

I think it would be better if you didn't post.

me and my mate did my body lift last week. thing we new about to look out for was fuel line and your steering column. all went well except my clutch line wasnt long enough and we didnt check it so if notted so it had to be replaced. but yea just them three was what i looked out for and all went well. i just used polythene blocks. make sure you use high tensil bolts aswell and lock nuts and all the jazz.

My thoughts exactly, your mates should try a better line. If you modify your 4wd then you will almost always have to adjust your driving style to suit, on and off road, regardless of the modification.

the reason people do body lifts is this

my car is a daily driver i go to work and home with it, i have 2 nich suspension 2inch body and dif moved forward 35mm and have no scrubage with 35s but ride 30s on the road

a mate of mine has 2 inch springs with 35s and dife moved forward 36mm and has 80 series bump stops in it to stop up travel, however this is not his daily, when were are driving to tracks in it when he goes over a bump it feels like uve hit a wall cause the bump stops hit,

2inch suspension 2inch body the way to go if its ur daily and weekend warrior, just get it approved and no cops can hassel u and u wont shit yourself when u see RBTs or road blocks cause ur all legal

jon did my bodylift in my 4runner, his work is good and fast.
0418 780 611.
he is on the northside of brissie but the train isnt too far away.
i lived in the redlands at the time aswell so you can easily catch the train back to cleveland.

if you want to fit it yourself he will most likely be more than happy to supply you the kit with everything you need
<<< and no thats not my 4runner in the picture

fill that out then send it in to them via fax or mail watever
you will then get a reply for a inspection date where they look over the work you have carried out

ps, make sure ur car is completly free of defects cause they will ping u for them, give it a wash before hand get rid of traces of oil ect, tire shine ect and u should be all sweet

have fun biggrin.gif

there is no 'mod 'plate' for tyres in QLD, u can in NSW but not here, You can only increase the rolling diameter by 26mm? on 4x4's and there's no way around it. I have spoken to the DOT approval people and the engineer who did my suicide doors as the tyre combo i wanted was 1mm too high, so was a no go.

also u cannot use any old engineer, they must be from the approved engineers list from the DOT, there isnt many, otherwise they wont approve it anyway. Mod plates can be done by any mechanical engineer but the body lift requires specific approval from them so u need to use their engineers.

when they eventually check it they will put it over the pits, they check EVERYTHING! worn bushes, leaks, braking/handbrake, exhaust, window tint, tyre sizes, basically the most comprehensive test u will ever do.

Jesusss. This sounds hectic, just to get the body up 2 inches !

So really there isnt any way to get a set of 33's on a hilux.... without getting defected

did u use an engineer at all when u went for the approval? usually they dont approve untill the final inspection when they check it with a fine tooth comb. Also did u use crush tubes?

i have heard a few ppl being defected/told to take lights off the roof, but im yet to see any legislation or modification laws providing any reason to suggest it?

do u own a bronze dual cab aswell? i've seen one with the exact same wheels...

He said they cant be higher than 2.8 meters

No cop has ever said anything about my wheels or mudguards.

I only got the bodylift approved, i never went and got it checked, if a cop asks i just say i had permission but i havn't had time to get it dot checked, but no cop ive incounted gives a fuck about lift or tyres

Just dont drive like a fuckwit or speed and your safe. I learnt my lesson with my silver lux.
