That sounds like a great idea do it adam do it.

What is this "chalk" you speak of?

incubus
Post #2108

it's a school, there has to be chalk

vh-holden
Post #2109

I think only primary schools use chalk now, and I can't see it being around for much longer. In this litigious world, all it is going to take is an asthma attack.

It's Thursday today hey? I better get the car out and charge the batteries.

Hey Adam, there is a new hobbywing 2250kv 1/8 motor on ebay for $115 4 cell motor that normaly suited to your esc as a package or there is a traxas vxL 1/10 motor also that they say will handle 3 and 4 cell setups as its a rated 55,000rpm motor and on 4cell will do 53,000rpm for around $85.
The hobbywing would be best i think for reliability at 33,300rpm and bigger and more torque and still plenty of power and fast enough and will suit the pinion gears you have also so you dont need the adaptor with this motor.

incubus
Post #2115

keep an eye out for some cheap 8.5 turn combos with a 60a esc.

toyrota
Post #2116

What brand, hobbywing stuff is $120 and the 8.5 is 4000kv

incubus
Post #2117

good old ezrun should do the trick.

after this season is over i might upgrade to a 5.5

toyrota
Post #2118

5.5t 6000kv is on there for the same price $120

incubus
Post #2119

too many killawasps to start with

toyrota
Post #2120

That can be a easy fix just turn down the epa as needed on the throttle thats what ill be doing due to putting my 5.5t in today.
The losi motor looks ok but the front bearing dose seem quite bad so i will replace it and see what happens but will test the 5.5 and see how it goes for heat.

i'll have to think about it....

oooh. work starts on tuesday after a month off, so i'll have to talk to you once the bank balance grows again. i'll still talk to you in the meantime though!

That's fine if you need too

vh-holden
Post #2124

will the driveline cope with that much power? i suppose i can always run it until it is a warped mess and upgrade to a stronger chassis later.

toyrota
Post #2125

MMM not sure it will defenitly start braking more stuff unless its got all the bigger upgraded stuff all in it then it will be ok

** DISPOSAL OF LIPO BATTERIES **
Unlike NiCd batteries, lithium-polymer batteries are environmentally friendly.
For safety reasons, it’s best that LiPo cells be fully discharged before disposal (however,
if physically damaged it is NOT recommended to discharge LiPo cells before disposal -
see below for details). The batteries must also be cool before proceeding with disposal
instructions.

To dispose of LiPo cells and packs:

1. If any LiPo cell in the pack has been physically damaged, resulting
in a swollen cell or a split or tear in a cell’s foil covering, do NOT discharge the battery.
Jump to step 5.
2. Place the LiPo battery in a fireproof container or bucket of sand.
3. Connect the battery to a LiPo discharger. Set the discharge cutoff
voltage to the
lowest possible value. Set the discharge current to a C/10 value, with “C” being the
capacity rating of the pack. For example, the “1C” rating for a 1200mAh battery is 1.2A,
and that battery’s C/10 current value is (1.2A / 10) can be used,
such as a power resistor or set of light bulbs as long as the discharge current doesn’t
exceed the C/10 value and cause an overheating condition.
For LiPo packs rated at 7.4V and 11.1V , connect a 150 ohm resistor with a power rating
of 2 watts (commonly found at Radio Shack)to the pack’s positive and negative terminals
to safely discharge connecting it to an ESC/ motor system and allowing the motor to run
indefinitely until no power remains to further cause the system to function.
4. Discharge the battery until its voltage reaches 1.0V per cell or
lower. For resistive load type discharges, discharge the battery for up to 24 hours.
5. Submerse the battery into bucket or tub of salt water. This container should have a lid,
but it should not need to be air-tight. Prepare a plastic container (do not use metal) of cold
water. And mix in 1/2 cup of salt per gallon of water. Drop the battery into the salt water.
Allow the battery to remain in the tub of salt water for at least 2 weeks.
6. Remove the LiPo battery from the salt water, wrap it in newspaper or paper towels and
place it in the normal trash. They are landfill safe.

Alllready done that with 3 lipo's. See no problem safe as and enviromently frendly i didn't know that.

incubus
Post #2128

i reckon a straight feed of 240v is a more fun way to dispose of them

funny car is under way should have it done in a few months as funds become available. Advice is needed on the running gear though from what I have read I was going to go with a 7 turn double wound brushed motor with microswitch ECS 96 tooth spur gear and a 11 tooth pinion to start with any other input would be greatfully recived.

When I get it all dialed in I will look at going brushless.

incubus
Post #2135

one thing is for sure.... it's going to be stupid fast if you can maintain traction with it.

the problem with running a micro switch is that there is instant power which makes it harder to get the power to the ground.
it is also a good thing but finding the balance will take a shit load of runs.

the wow carpark would make a good test track due to the fine layer of dust making traction harder to get
