Post #1 post 12th July 2010 - 12:05 AM
Gday guys.

ive just bought a new XR6 ute and am looking at changing the wheels to some black FPV wheels ive seen of the FG's

pictures of said wheels: http://wheelandtyrepackages.com.au/images/...F6%20wheels.jpg

my question is quite simple, would it be worth finding some genuine FPV ones and paying ?? (not to sure) or just finding some aftermarket lookalikes.

i havent looked into it but im assuming offset & pcd will match fine. just moving from 17" to 19"

Thanks

Nothing is better than the real thing.... but the price that comes with it is not so good... but dark agents are quite a nice rim for the fords.

try and find someone who is selling the rims secondhand, because they have purchased new rims themselves. and let me know so i can buy them "rolleyes"

but i would prob just settle for the lookalikes, who is going to know? and its not really worth the extra money.

just my opinion and goodluck thumbsup.gif

Finally got rid of that bloody Lancer hey?

Copies should do fine. you could go for a drive to Graham's Street Wheels and Tyres in slack creek they usually have a good selection of FPV copies etc. Could also try Ebay...

p.s You doing a new system in the new falcon?

I sold mine for $1950 with no rubber. Have seen sets going for 2500 with no rubber. Id rather genuine... But that said, QLDS Best Wheels and Tyres at Geebung do copies in 20s for around 1500 with tyres IIRC.

Don't see what you're trying to get at.

Don't bother with the genuines. 99% of people aren't going to notice.

Go for a clean set of aftermarket ones. Imo, make sure you lower it a little too. Will finish it off as the utes have that huge ass gap between the wheel and the guard.

If you can, go for a set with some width on the rear. Might have to get them custom made though? Not too sure...

will be going for a drive on the weekend to all the pre mentioned places. tax money going to good use.

If your not in a rush hiro are bringing out 20 by 9.5s soon, which will fill the back of the ute up a bit better.

not many people are really going to notice if they are non genuine. Just buy the cheaper copy, if they are decent quality.

They do a 17", 18", 19" and staggered 20" in the Dark Argents. They also do a 20x9.5 with +20 offset to fill the rear gaurds of the FG ute.

18" & 19" in pre AU Falcon for the early fitments also.

They are recent additions to the 19 & 20" range from the same supplier.

Try Qld Best or Brisbane Mobile Tyres

IMO the FG's really do need the staggered fitment to fill the monstrous rear guards.

Genuine or copy? depends if the difference is noticeable, are all the lines on the spokes there on the copies? Hunt around for decent condition second hand genuines, failing that, brand new copies. be careful if you DO buy second hand ones that they ARE genuine though!

I ask though, why are you choosing the Dark Argents over the usual aftermarket options? Some aftermarket ones look absolutely supurb and will keep the ute from looking like the one beside it at the supermarket. Though, I will say a 20' staggered fitment in the Dark Argents will keep people wondering, and would be cool.

And lastly, x2 for Grahame at 'Street Wheels And Tyres' in Moss st
